Outgoing Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha appealed for calm on Thursday, after supporters of the Move Forward leader, whose hopes of becoming prime minister have been dashed, conducted two noisy but peaceful gatherings.

Deputy government spokesman Rachada Dhnadirek said Prayut has kept abreast of the developing political situation.

“As the interim government is tasked with keeping peace and stability in the country, he wishes that all sides express their political opinions peacefully, within the rule of law and without violence….They should not destroy the economy, trade or investment. It is likely that, by the end of this year, the number of foreign tourists visiting Thailand will reach 35 million,” she said.

Why should your average working Thai give a monkey's about that?

If they want to topple the dinosaurs they absolutely have no option but to temporarily destroy all of that, it is actually the only way they can have a better future and rid themselves of the parasites

There needs to be change and change has a steep price, I hope Thailand is ready to pay that price otherwise nothing will ever change...

You might be shocked by the 27th turn.

Personally, I believe they'll be a higher intervention regarding these current matters.

Expect to find the same old face as the caretaker government will be extended under emergency decree.

.......until a new scam election schedule can be initiated.

I'm calm. :violin:

His statement sounds very much like a prelude to a coup.
Uncle Tu wants his place in history as repeat coupist.

Most likely 50 % of Thais nowadays live directly or indirectly from the tourist trade in one or "another" way and money or lack of it is the most effective way to praise or punish people so they follow the law.

Understood but promising the poor the crumbs from the top table is disingenuous at best and absolutely disgusting at worst

The whole sorry situation needs to be reset, the creatures in charge need to be removed if Thailand is to go forward

Unfortunately the deck is so stacked against the people that their options are limited to direct action, there is simply no legal way to get any form of justice...

Oh Father Prayuth, now you ask to stay calm, but who makes the people angry first??? If you never listen to the people and don't respect the elections, why are you surprised that they take actions???

You folks & your dictatorship style of governing is doing that all yourselves without the need of any help. Any investment here would be the same as investing in or approving of North Korea or Myanmar

Stay calm......you mean like rolling tanks and  leading a coup like you did to install a military junta and fix all the rules to insure that your unelected pals are able to vote to overturn the voters choice?  Got it.

Prayut served as Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army from 2010 to 2014[3][4] and led the 2014 Thai coup d'état which installed the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), the military junta which governed Thailand between 22 May 2014 and 10 July 2019.[5]

so leading a coup is the way to express political opinions peacefully within the rule of law and without violence?  Would any thai journalist have the nerve to ask him about his hypocrisy?...also please release your list of assets pre coup and now so we can see how much you made off the coup??

The Caretaker Prime Minister has expressed his concerns about potential political protests this week.

The demonstrations, which are expected to draw crowds from both pro and anti-government factions in front of the Parliament Complex, have stirred concerns about possible conflict.

According to Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha requested officials to ensure the smooth management of the gatherings. His primary concern is to prevent any faction from breaching the law and to maintain peace, urging everything to proceed according to proper procedures.

If it wasn't for his corrupt constitution and formation of an unelected, incompetent and unaccountable senate,

there would be no need for calls of calm.

Something that doesn't fit in with your plans.

Oh Steven please. Enough already. Just like the USA political debacle, time to move on. Problem is, Prayut's rigged system torpedoed the chance to move on.

Hmmm…. Shouldnt that be ex prime minister ?

Shut that hole under your nose, you have designed the courts and senate and could not be more happy about the young Harvard Graduate Pita's ( election winner ) removal of duties.....

Prayut calls for calm...

He's the main instigator of all this, his hand picked salaried loyal puppets have once again denied democracy to the country and denied the public of the party and PM they wanted.

The whole system is rigged for the elite and military junta.

Keep calm. The election is turning out just like it was intended to do.
