In an effort to boost tourists visiting, Thailand’s government will be establishing additional tourism offices in the United States and Saudi Arabia, stated the deputy spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek.

The proposition comes as part of a refreshed approach to meet international market demands, as directed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is now concentrating on attracting long-haul travellers, primarily from Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. The projected revenue from such endeavours is expected to reach a staggering 1.62 trillion baht by year’s end, Dhnadirek had pointed out.

TAT is furthering its reach in the US by inaugurating an overseas office in the city of Chicago, joining existing offices in New York and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, an office will also open in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to market Thailand as an appealing destination to Middle Eastern and Northern African tourists, Dhnadirek explained.

Not really new because Chicago has a Thai Consulate and the Tourism Office just has to put up a sign.  Also, the Los Angeles Tourism office is inside the Thai Consulate which is located on the border of Hancock Park and Hollywood.  If the Riyadh office holds a tourism fair does this mean Singha or Chang has to produce Zero % alcohol beer?

...not to mention higher tourist taxes! the equation is simple: more tourists and more taxes = a stronger economy, indeed!

Chicago? They'll be lucky if they don't get murdered on their way to work in the morning.

With the recent loosening on controlled substances, perhaps Kensington, Philadelphia is a good spot to promote Thailand!

Pure fantasy again.

They need to work with the airlines to make it more affordable to fly to Thailand from the USA and give some incentives. Just opening up an office to promote Thailand in a couple of cities will not help. They also need to factor in the fact that most working people only get 2 weeks off for holidays and find a way to provide affordable package plans to get the most out of their trip.
