Jomtien Beach, Pattaya, Thailand-Following proposals from some restaurant and bar owners as well as business and tourism associations to consider closing Jomtien Beach overnight to discourage illegal behaviours and loud noises, over 200 Banglamung District officers toured the beach early this morning at 1:30 A.M., August 12th, 2023.

Led by Mr. Phisit Sirisawatdinukul Bang Lamung District Chief, the team toured the beach, finding hundreds of people sitting and socialising along the length of Jomtien Beach even despite the late hour.

Mr. Phisit stated to The Pattaya News that the team had several focus areas:

-Making sure that there were no loud noises or people playing loud music

My 3 y/o nephew is in town and we took him to that children's play area on Jomtien beach last week, lots of kids running about having fun and one asshat farang off to the side smoking ganga.

I'm not anti ganga but there's better places to smoke weed than next to a kid's play area.

Great work.

Pattaya beach has been saved.

Safe to swim in my recycled poo from my East Pattaya house without blow-ins adding their poo.????????

I see they're getting right on it, lol

In 6 months nothing will have changed.

I didn't notice the time, I was drinking all day & night and the bars had just closed, my watch was stolen by a pack of aggressive Jomtien Beach Road transvestites and in my alcohol induced rage I was driving up & down Jomtien Beach Road as fast as I could to find them (without either one of us wearing a helmet).  My vision was blurry due to my intoxicated state so I couldn't see the exact time.

Oh, wait, none of the above happened, it was about 7 in the evening.

I know that area well. I personally don't smoke The Devil's lettuce but support those who do.

But NOT next to the kids' play area! There are too many options available, just a few meters up or down the beach. Heavy sigh, common sense is none too common.

so 200 cops comb the beach and arrest two guys for illegally selling pot....i guess that was it as far as anything they may have seen or heard.

cops prob pissed at having to go for walk at 1;30 am and were anxious to get it over with and say time to go home or maybe they liked what they saw....did they actually warn anyone that loud noise etc needs to stop or did they tell them as soon as we are finished with this photo op we will come back and join you in some karaoke, booze, pot and dancing til sunrise?

I don't believe they have 200 cops altogether, part of the problem. But you made me think to ask my toy policeman pal how many guys they have working for soi 9. I heard a police talk some years ago that they were limited by the number of people officially resident in the Pattaya area, that number effectively controlling budgets and staff numbers. Obviously Pattaya being a tourist town, needed number would be much higher. Not sure how true that is.

This is policing Thai 101!

No enforcement when it gets out of hand although good money is being paid to keep a force in place nothing is ever done until complaints come in and a light is shined on their incompetence when that happens their solutions is to gather personnel overtime and do a photo op = problem solved like WS there is no prostitution. Jomtien tonight it is all cleared they got the message.
