Popular Post webfact
The Thai Customs Canine Training Centre (TCCTC) was officially inaugurated yesterday in the Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan. This is Thailand’s first facility for training sniffer dogs, set to become a vital tool in combating narcotics smuggling. Roughly five dogs are anticipated to be enlisted for a program focusing on the identification of illicit substances concealed within imported and exported goods. Situated in Tambon Nong Prue on a land plot spanning two rai, the TCCTC features an administrative edifice, a single-storey structure for training purposes, and an external area reserved for practical drills for the dogs. The inauguration ceremony was spearheaded by Patchara Anuntasilpa, the Customs Department’s director-general, Yoo Sunhee, director-general of the Customs Human Resource Development Institute based in South Korea, and officials from related organisations. Elaborating on the site specifics, Patchara underlined that the training building hosts a wide range of equipment as well as providing a replicated working environment, fitted with a baggage area and a conveyor belt. This is to facilitate the dogs in getting equipped for their real-world duties. by Mitch Connor Sniffer Dogs in Thailand, chula.ac.th. webfact
Customs Dept opens K-9 training center for anti-drug operations by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai Customs Department has opened a new facility to train sniffer dogs for anti-drug operations. The new training center will create a new team of officers and sniffer dogs working to intercept drugs smuggled through airports and postal offices. Located in Nong Prue sub-district of Samut Sakhon, the new training ground is home to an office building, a dog shelter, an indoor training facility, and a large grass field for outdoor training. These dogs are named Kanun and Durian, two labrador retrievers gifted to Thailand by Korea Customs Service as a token of cooperation between both countries’ customs agencies to enhance the suppression of narcotics and illegal articles. Two officers from Thailand were trained in South Korea for three months together with the dogs, before traveling back to Thailand for additional training. The two dogs have shown great progress in their training. Mr. Patchara Anantasilp, Director General of the Customs Department, said the department had received great cooperation from customs agencies in various countries, particularly South Korea, who provided two sniffer dogs and a training course to Thai officials. The department is planning to expand its K-9 unit to include 6-10 officers, who will be operating primarily at airports and postal offices to intercept illicit drugs. Popular Post jvs
There also is a K9 centre between Hua-hin and Cha-am. They also have a few labradors there for training. I stopped in there one day hoping they would also have patrol dogs but not yet in Thailand i think. The dogs are trained using mostly positive reinforcement training and they looked well taken care off. 1 1

mfd101
So, the implication is that Thailand has only just discovered the concept of sniffer dogs? And, as suggested above, so many soi dogs everywhere looking for gainful employment!
