another benefit of the phone is you can use it anywhere, I've just finished a round of golf having a coffee, a PC you have to switch on and plonk yourself down, there's a reason the mobile browser is very popular, each to their own i guess

I have a Desktop PC, Windows notebook, tablet and phone. I use them all, just on different occasions and mostly (but not exclusively) for different tasks.

They are cheap enough to have one of each of what we want/need.

Did they have this tiresome message about "Community standards" back then?

Tiresome, it's only one line....................????

My number one suggestion would be to have an AI driven moderator (we could call it AIMOD) to weed out troll posts such as racism, sexism, ageism and flame posts BEFORE they appeared on the forum.

Are you for real?

Nothing would ever be posted.

Some people. Struth

That can only lead to an improvement in the long term. Once these nerdy posters realize their vitriolic anti Thai postings that seem to pervade almost every thread here will not get an airing, the sooner this forum will improve.

Bring it on, the sooner the better.

There's another Pattaya forum where the mods have been so heavy handed for so long it's a really boring forum, has a library feel to it, basically they've been killing it for years

let's just say being been on both sides and currently have a facebook group of 12k people. Moderation is a real difficult thin line to thread. to much, and everyone is unhappy, to litlle and everyone is unhappy. just enough and still people are unhappy.

i believe in free speech, any speech (even insults) bit like X.  but that only works if it's for a community that's close together on my facebook group i don't do any moderation just trying to keep adverts/spam at bay.  but that only work cause it's for a small city, and people know each other.  they know if they rant it will also stay there forever. 🙂

for thaivisa (this one, still call it with the old name)  there is so many members that doesn't work

The Facebook groups which are growing in popularity prove there's no need for heavy handed moderation. Barely noticed any moderation on those groups

Maybe that's because people post using their real names and they are easy to track down in real life . Hence posters are less likely to be abusive

Possibly but many don't use their real names, any arguments are usually short lived and fizzle out
