Guys…

GUYS!

WHAT are you guys THINKING!

How much do they pay you guys to walk around Thailand like Human Billboards?

Any day of the week, just walk along the road, and you will see guys advertising almost anything and everything under the sun.

Why do YOU guys do this?

How much are they paying you?

I, for one, wouldn’t be CAUGHT DEAD with advertising on me, or on my clothing, or on my shoes. Well, sometimes I am forced to have a Nike logo on my athletic shoes. But I never wore brands on my Bostonians.

How much are these companies paying you???

Do you just do what everyone ELSE does?

Can’t you even think for yourselves, and tell these companies that your body and your personal space is…YOURS!

Here is what I mean. This guy here seems to be advertising the VW Bus. But does he get paid for doing so?:

I hope you guys can please add a few examples to prove my point.  It seems that EVERYBODY and his BROTHER are walking around Thailand advertising, for free, almost any kind of product or service, and publicizing all sorts of logos and brands, and they do it for FREE, with no thought or caring…

Like ZOMBIES!

Like the WALKING DEAD!

It’s like their brains have come to a complete halt.

They just wear whatever they are told to wear.

Where do they even FIND this apparel, ANYWAY???

So please help me out.

Help prove my point here.

Upload some examples here.

Thank you.

I appreciate it.

Gamma

I wear plain coloured Tees and Plain shorts / trackies with no branding when training.
I have a pair of adidas runners and a pair of brooks trainers, simply because they offer the best support for my dodgy old feet.
But at the end of the day does it matter what anyone wears as long as they are relaxed and happy?

I, too, have been impressed with this monumental film that you allude to, and I never tire in the viewing.

There are, no doubt, many lessons to be learned.

You may call me an anachronism, if you will, however my view is that the extreme brand consciousness of today, as well as the chasing after prestige products that this engenders, causes most people to become anything BUT relaxed and happy.

You say that your feet are old and tired, but are they old enough that you can recall a better time, a time before our world became a landscape of logos? Or, have you forgotten?

Do we really benefit from the further divisions to society that luxury brands depend upon to sell their goods?

Are you, at least, old enough to clearly recall the world when we were expected to dress for dinner?

How sweet it was!

I, for one, miss the days of Lord Darlington...

The below shirt is advertised at around THB 90,000. I would ask to be paid the same amount a month to wear it.

GUCCI Webbing-Trimmed Logo-Print Stretch-Jersey Hooded Jacket

So, as I say...

Just more useless advertising.

At least, it's genuine Gucci, as you can see from the styling.

If they paid me Bt.90,000.00 per month to wear it at night,

I would.

I noticed that when you reply to others topic, you are a total different person.

You research or know and add proof links to your posts, that are really helpful and interesting

Don't be a hypocrite,  as long as one is part of society no one is exempt.  Advertising isn't just on clothing as long as you are a foreigner in Thailand you advertised without wearing it a ATM,  in time that is changing as we speak tomorrow we will be advertising a QR code. ????

In AA they prefer people don't wear clothes that advertise booze. Some are strict,

Other than that, who cares? Just be aware that branding/propaganda works.

I advertise Ferrari occasionally for free, I have been meaning to ask them for a cut of the revenue

I surely generate.

Yes, it's technically advertising but does anyone take a blind bit of notice?

During the daytime I wear dirt-cheap football shirts from the local market, just like Somchai wears. They're covered in branding (including Durex and Pornhub on a couple) but they're nice and bright to match my flambouyant personality, easy to wash, last for ever, and I think they're funny.

However, none of my evening shirts or shorts are branded.

Sometimes the problem is that the Thais do not understand the "slogans"! I am sure that the teenage girl ( and parents ) who regularly attends Mass here in the football shirt branded for PornHub would be mortified if she/they knew!

I have a Brunswick Green polo shirt with the old (lion on a wheel) British Railways motif on it - but it is not so much advertising as that I really like steam locomotives!

Then you probably would have enjoyed the ones in India up until fairly recently.

Doesn't take much to trigger you does it. Best to not give a F#$k and your day will be much better. I really don't notice what other people wear thank God.

You really should refer to my most recent Topic concerning Steven Pinker and the use of language.

I am sure you will find it most entertaining.

My wife is Thai, but reads, writes, and speaks English.    She told me about a time that she met her niece in the Chatuchak market.  I forget what the wife told me was on the niece's shirt, but it was a obscene saying relating to sex.

Wife asked, do you know what that saying means?   Niece says no.  Wife translates saying into Thai.  Niece is mortified and promptly removes the shirt and clad only in a brassier and long pants, goes to the nearest clothing seller, and buys a new shirt, then throws the one with the obscene saying away.

Apparently niece was less embarrassed walking around with just brassier on top than she was about the obscene English saying written on her shirt, once she understood what it mean!
