I assume from your amazement that you don't visit Immigration, the modes of dress are often weird and wonderful, which is why Immigration Jomtien at one time issued a dress code, don't know if it's still valid. Will admit that I tend to wear more formal attire (long pants/trousers and polo shirt) when I visit Immigration.

As everyone should

On arrival, officers identified him as he was about to submit his visa extension at the immigration counter.

This type of behaviors (damaging properties and running away) will be followed by legal troubles and won't be a great idea for someone who is on extensions????. He could be deported and black listed (depends on the court).????

Myself being British, I would think that no British chap would be seen dead in those shorts, and the leg art does point towards the USA....????

Because chavs which now comprise 50% of England would never go in for leg art...

On September 4, 2023, Bangkok authorities reported the apprehension of Mr. John (alias), a 41-year-old American.

He was sought after causing an incident in Phuket, where he purportedly wreaked havoc and inflicted damage to a local residence. Following this, the property owner lodged a complaint against him for the damages, reported Siam Rath.

Attempts by Phuket's investigative unit to locate Mr. John initially proved fruitless. They later secured an arrest warrant from the Phuket court.

Through their investigation, they learned that Mr. John had fled from Phuket and was residing in a condominium near Sukhumvit Soi 11 in the Wattana district of Bangkok.

The breakthrough came when the authorities discovered that Mr. John planned to visit the IT Square building in the Laksi district of Bangkok to extend his visa.

On arrival, officers identified him as he was about to submit his visa extension at the immigration counter.

Confirming his identity and ensuring he was the same individual wanted in Phuket, they informed him of the charges and his rights.

He was subsequently detained and handed over to the investigative team in Phuket for legal proceedings.

Definitely no colour coordination in his attire.

He had left his place of residence and moved to BKK

The owner of his new place should have filed a TM 30.  (Again more sarcasm by me). My point is that the TM 30 is useless in locating foreigners.

Every immigration office has a dress code, not just Jomtien, whether people follow it or not is another matter. Like you I always wear long trousers and a shirt with a collar

Actually most if not all government facilities have a dress code.
