Crime Two E-Cigarette Vendors Surrender After Shooting Officers in Sting
Photo via Naewna Two e-cigarette vendors turned themselves in at Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station in Pathum Thani after injuring two officers during a sting operation on June 29. Police Sergeant Autsanai Rueangsai, posing as a delivery rider, arranged to buy an e-cigarette from 35-year-old suspect Naphontorn “Toon” Fakfueangboon. They agreed to meet outside a convenience store in Bang Poon. Arriving with his associate, 39-year-old Sorrasak “Deer” Janbailek, the pair suspected Autsanai’s true identity, leading to a confrontation. Autsanai was shot in the leg and arm, while 42-year-old volunteer officer Apichai Chuenjai was injured while assisting, sustaining a wound to the groin. The suspects fled in a grey sedan, abandoned later in Bangkok. Their families contacted police, facilitating their surrender in Nonthaburi. Naphontorn and Sorrasak claimed they initially thought the officers were rivals and didn’t realise they were police until after the incident. Naphontorn confessed Sorrasak fired the shots. Both suspects have previous criminal records involving drugs and weapons. Naphontorn, a former inmate turned YouTuber, shared experiences from prison life. They face serious charges, including attempted murder of on-duty officers, potentially punishable by death under Section 289 of Thai law. Additional charges concerning firearms and illegal e-cigarette sales are under consideration. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-07-01 -
