First of all, thanks to everyone who has answered my questions so far and helped put my mind at ease.

I am preparing the paperwork for the settlement visa for my fiancee.

One last point and I think I can stop worrying, as long nobody tells me this will be a sticking point for the embassy that is.

I have been flatsharing for a couple of years now, my flatmate is the owner/ landlord and I pay rent each month which covers all bills, except the phone bill.

So, my problem is that I don't have any utility bills, council tax bills etc. in my name to include with the application. I have all the other paperwork required ready, including tenancy agreements.

Any advice, as always would be greatly appreciated.

You just have to demonstrate that there exists sufficient accommodation. Perhaps get your landlord to write a letter confrming what you've just posted. To have utility bills is not a prerequisite of being allowed to stay.

Thanks Scouse, I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this now.

I will post details of the outcome - there aren't enough positive stories on here. :o
