Human Skeleton Found by Backhoe Operator in Canal

On September 12, 2023, at 1:30 PM, Mr. Thanawat Sudkaew, a backhoe operator, made a shocking discovery in Khlong Chon Prathan Canal, Khung Phayom Subdistrict, Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi Province.

 

He found a human skeleton near the canal's edge and immediately reported it to Captain Piyapong Wongketjai, the head of Ban Pong Police Station, reported Siam Rath

 

Upon arrival, authorities also discovered a mound of soil near the canal, where the human skeleton was found. The skeleton appeared to be nearly intact, with an estimated height of approximately 170 centimeters.

The individual was wearing brown trousers, but their gender remained unknown. The skeleton was collected for further examination and identification at the Forensic Science Institute.

 

Furthermore, a 24-year-old woman, Ms. Mintra Sirithai, who lives nearby, came forward to view the discovered skeleton. She believed it might be her 59-year-old father, Mr. Somphol Sirithai, who had gone missing since August 17, 2023.

His pickup truck was found parked alongside Khlong Chon Prathan Canal, about 5 kilometers from the skeleton's location. Among the items found within the vehicle were the car keys, a mobile phone, cash, and a set of sandals, yet Mr. Somphol's location remained undisclosed.

 

Authorities are prepared to initiate thorough investigations with the aim of verifying the deceased person's identity and comprehending the circumstances surrounding their demise.
