SA KAEO – A fire broke out in a high-rise building in the heart of Poipet, Cambodia, opposite Thailand's Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo Province. 

 

Aranyaprathet's fire brigade swiftly responded to combat the inferno, and there have been no reported injuries or casualties thus far, reported 77kaoded.

The occurrence transpired at approximately 10:00 PM on September 15, 2023, and the conflagration rapidly consumed the upper levels of the edifice, its glow discernible from afar.

The architectural complex, identified as the "3-Star Tower" or "Ming Zhu," serves as a habitation for a significant number of Chinese citizens and ascends to a height of approximately 10 stories.

The area is densely populated and home to a bustling casino, residential units, shops, and Cambodian businesses.

Local rescue teams, led by Boontham Anusin, head of the Aranyaprathet rescue foundation, coordinated with Cambodian authorities and were granted permission to cross the border at the Khlong Luek Border Friendship Bridge in Aranyaprathet to assist Cambodian firefighters in controlling the blaze and aiding those inside the building.

 

As of now, the fire has been brought under control after approximately 2 hours, with no reports of injuries or fatalities.
