Same as you might have had less sympathy for Floyd if you were one of his many victims of cowardly crimes.

Could you read my post again ?

This bit

"and have no sympathies for George Floyd "

I assumed the first paragraph of that post was sarcasm.

Good to see you share my views on Floyd. Maybe read up on the criminal history of the guy shot by UK police. Similar characters...

I have no idea what George Floyd has to do with this case.

George Floyd is dead and he was murdered by police in a country thousands of miles away from the UK.

Unless of course someone is trying to make the case against police summarily murdering citizens, why is George Floyd even remotely relevant?

I'd be more concerned about bullets flying around , rather than a car driving around .

I can avoid a car , wouldn't be able to avoid a bullet

You reckon...................????

I am not in favourer of anyone's criminal history and criminals should be prosecuted .

The Police shouldn't have the legal right to kill people .

We have laws in the U.K and if its found that the policeman acted lawfully, he will get a not guilty verdict .

If you are in favour of the law and law abiding people , then the Policeman should follow the rule of law and be judged in Court

So why do police anywhere, given guns............? ????

Now I thought it was to protect themselves and others, if you in your wisdom think being rammed by a 2 ton car is just kid's play, you are an idiot....????

The question is that whether the car ramming was life threatening to the Police .

Did the policeman think that his life was in danger or was he just annoyed that someone dented his car ?

Most UK police don’t carry guns.

The Officer will undoubtedly make a defense case on ‘protecting life’.

It remains to be seen if it sways a jury.

1. You don't know who carries guns in a particular department operation.

2. You are now a lawyer (funny).

3. How do you know a jury needs swaying.

4. Stand down, you are not in the USA now.......????

Juries are swayed by the evidence and testimonies they are presented with.

That’s how trials work.

Shall we look at it another way:

this individual was shot, one round was fired. He had previous convictions for possession of firearms, the car was being followed because it had been used in criminal activity involving firearms the day before, and he was shot when using the car, as a lethal weapon, to ram his way through the police roadblock.

Had the army been deployed, I can assure you that he would have been shot, probably several times. Shooting him would have absolutely been within the rules of engagement for armed soldiers deployed in support of the civil police within the United Kingdom.

This incident and the way it is being handled, has the potential to remove armed police from the streets of London, possibly throughout the country.

The gleeful reaction of the gangs, and the proliferation of guns used in crime, and crime itself, once they know that the only real deterrent has been removed will be dramatic.

When London, quite possibly, suffers a wave of South African style armed robberies, armed burglaries and armed carjackings I wonder how @Chomper Higgotwill respond? Apart from blaming Ms Braverman of course!

Let’s look at it another way.

An armed unit police officer has been charged with murder.

Around 100 other armed unit police officers have refused their armed duty because they don’t believe their colleague, and presumably themselves, should be held accountable to the law.

There are 100 less police officers available right now because they don’t agree accountability under the law should apply to one of their colleagues.

AND

There’s a dead guy who’s death the Crown Prosecution Service believe warrants murder charges.

No, you are twisting stuff as usual....

Around 100 armed officers have laid down their arms over they maybe charged with murder if they have to use firearms...

There is a dead criminal using a weapon to try and inflict injury on an armed officer, he removed the threat.

Once again, you side with the criminals, but if you had a problem where the police did not save you from a weapon threat, you would be on here complaining.. ...Frauditor.....????

The Metropolitan police has called on the SAS to provide counter-terrorism support after firearms officers downed their weapons in protest at the charging of their colleague with murder.

Suella Braverman ordered a review of armed policing to calm a growing rebellion of about 100 officers over the charging on Wednesday of an officer for the murder of 24-year-old Chris Kaba, an unarmed man killed last September by a single shot to the head.

Met commissioner Sir Mark Rowley called for greater protections for armed officers, accusing the police watchdog of being too quick to criminally investigate those who use force.

The scale and speed of the protest by Met armed officers prompted the home secretary to order an emergency review of armed policing, with several sources telling the Guardian there were fears the rebellion could spread further within the Met and around the country.

The Met, which polices most of London, had to ask other smaller forces to lend it armed officers and then on Sunday to ask the military for help.

The Guardian understands that the Met asked for soldiers from the SAS to be put on standby for deployment against terrorist suspects, as a significant number of police counter-terrorism firearms officers refused to be available for armed duties.

So why does the article in the OP state:

“The Metropolitan police has called on the SAS to provide counter-terrorism support after firearms officers downed their weapons in protest at the charging of their colleague with murder.”?
