webfact
A shocking incident unfolded in the district of Phran Kratai, Kamphaeng Phet, as a secondary school teacher was accused of physically assaulting a 13 year old student. The incident, captured in a 20-second video clip, was brought to the attention of the media by the 44 year old victim’s mother, Sathip. The video reveals the teacher, identified only by his first name Boran, approaching the student from behind during a self-study session, grabbing him by the neck, and forcefully pulling the chair from under him, resulting in the student falling onto the floor. Following the incident, the student confronts the teacher questioning his actions, to which the teacher responds that the student was not doing his work. Despite the student insisting that he was working, the teacher instructs him to work at his desk instead. Prompted by a female classmate, the student leaves the classroom to calm down. After the incident, student A, the victim, informed his mother, who, after viewing the video clip, rushed to the school to confront the teacher and the school administration. Sathip, accompanied by her 26 year old daughter, confronted the teacher about his actions and the harm caused to her son. by Nattapong Westwood Photo: by Niko, on Flickr. ikke1959
The poor innocent student and the bad grumpy teacher. Or is it a spoilt child, that thinks he can do what he wants with rich or influence parents?
Popular Post Geir Rasch
Whatever a child must do, it is total unacceptable for a teacher to use violence. Such people should not be allowed to be a teacher. What is wrong with the teacher education in Thailans? 3

Teachers have no right to use any kind of violence, no matter what the student does, short of physically attacking another student or the teacher themselves. If that had been my kid, that teacher would be walking funny now. Teachers using violence against their students are just showing weakness and incompetence, and they should never have become a teacher in the first place. Popular Post Bangkok Barry
Not a word on the reaction of the school, only of the teacher who, of course, denied everything until shown the video. Even then the teacher insisted he wasn't at fault. Why does no-one in Thailand ever, ever, ever take responsibility for what they do? I grew out of that when I was about six years old. Normally I am against students having a mobile phone in class, but it seems that in Thailand it's an essential tool to capture video proof of assaults by teachers. It's something we read of over and over again. Certainly, in this case with the teacher denying - read lying - about what happened, nothing could have been done. As for the mother filing a police report of the assault, we can be 100% sure that they will do what they are best at - which is nothing at all. 1

ikke1959
All reactions show that nobody has any experience in Thai classrooms, nor that know anything about the behaviour of Thai students in a classroom. Besides that it is common practice and there are no other options for teacher to punish that are accepted. I am happy to read that the kids of foreigners seem to be angels.
