Sadly he was killed in Thailand after being hit by a pick up or a truck . Very dangerous to ride a bicycle here . Especially when a lot of groups like to ride side by side out in the road. And also driving a motorbike here in Thailand, very dangerous and stupid.
Cardinalblue1958 Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 It is pitch black at 5am…extremely dangerous not just from vehicles but dogs, Motorcycles w/o lights, pot holes and debris on the roadside… it makes no sense to ride at night or dusk/dawn… they put themselves in at risk situations…. 1 1

I was thinking that myself. Thai folk should know the risks on their roads, and on a slim line pushbike in the dark......????

Condemning all Thais as "not responsible enough to accept blame", based on just this and, maybe, a couple of other incidents is irrational, Thai-bashing garbage. So yet again an innocent cyclist dies from a coward driver who fails to stop and you turn it to Thai bashing. I cycle everyday and these idiots should be jailed on driving skills alone but you just dream on. 3 3

It makes no sense apart from the fact they have lights and it's the coolest time of the day for exercise. Never leave the house incase some drunk lunatic is driving around. 2
natway09 Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Very sad & maybe as already stated no excuse but this is Thailand where cautious driving is just not the norm & very surprised that fully grown Thai men would (take the risk) to go cycling on public roads in the dark after sunset or before sunrise in particular in groups possibly two abreast. You just have to knew that you are at the least pushing your luck
balo Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 I did a lot of bicycling when I lived in Pattaya, but never after dark, you need to have eyes and ears open at all times. The first thing I did was to install a mirror on both sides. Some of the mountain bikes they use here are not really safe , especially not at night.
AustinRacing Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 I urge you to come forward to face the consequences. So inviting. Among things that bother me in Thailand is the hot and run. Says so much about their attitude and human solidarity. RIP. 1
Road Warrior Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 very sad RIP when they catch this criminal he goes to prison for manslaughter 1
Hanuman2547 Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I ride my bicycle quite a bit but I don't recommend cycling in the dark, even with lights, anywhere in the world where you share a road with other vehicles. 1
