webfact Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 A high-pressure system is presently sweeping across northern and eastern Thailand, resulting in rainfall across the country. Weather warnings have been issued for 38 provinces, with Bangkok experiencing a 30% drop in rainfall. Unpredictable winds and sea waves higher than 2 metres were reported today. The Thai weather forecast predicts that a monsoon trough is approaching the eastern and upper southern regions, leading to a surge in low-pressure areas over the South China Sea. The high-pressure system is still covering the northern and northeastern regions, causing thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in southern areas. Residents in these areas are urged to exercise caution against heavy to very heavy rain and potential flash floods or runoff, specifically in mountainous areas near water channels and low-lying regions. Also, precautions should be taken against thunderstorms during this period. In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, waves are approximately 1 metre high, while areas experiencing thunderstorms may see waves higher than 2 metres. Mariners are advised to navigate with care and avoid areas with thunderstorms. by Nattapong Westwood Photo: Donat Photography/ EyeEm Full story: The Thaiger 2023-10-16 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Crossy Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Do the Thai's have an equivalent to "The boy who cried wolf"? We get these "forecasts" of heavy weather daily and it never materialises. One day it will and nobody will be ready. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

We had a lot of lightning and rain last night here in Hua Hin, so loud that it hurt our ears! Much better today, Monday. 1

dinsdale Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 They are very good at predicting rain in the wet season (when it rains almost every day, or more than once a day and often around the same time). Well done. 1 1
