Motorbike Crashes into Canal at High Speed, One Dead, One Seriously Injured
Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A high-speed motorbike crash in Ayutthaya has left a woman dead and a man seriously injured after their lost control of their vehicle and plunged into a roadside canal. Police were alerted to the incident on the Ayutthaya–Sena road near the entrance to Wat Tha Ka Rong in Ban Pom subdistrict. The accident occurred when a blue Honda Wave 125i motorbike, registered in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, skidded along the road before crashing into a signpost and careering into the water. Emergency responders from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital and the Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Rescue Association rushed to the scene. Passers-by had already pulled the victims—a 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman—from the canal. Both suffered severe head and facial injuries, and the woman was pronounced dead before reaching hospital. The deceased has been identified as Ms. Chonthicha, a resident of Sena district. The injured man, named as Mr. Thanit, was taken to hospital for emergency treatment. Eyewitnesses reported hearing the sound of the motorbike scraping along the road before seeing it plunge into the canal. A nearby CCTV camera captured the moment of the crash, which reportedly showed the motorbike travelling at high speed before they lost control. Rescue worker Mr. Chainarong stated that initial reports indicated the motorbike was moving too fast to navigate the road safely. Police have since transported the woman’s body to the Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani for further examination. Witnesses have also been called for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. -- 2025-04-02 -

Pizza-Selling Couple Arrested for Gold Shop Robbery in Phuket
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A couple who ran a pizza stall at local markets in Phuket have been arrested for snatching a gold bracelet worth over 100,000 baht from a well-known jewellery shop. They later confessed, saying they committed the crime to support their struggling family. On the evening of 31 March, police in Wichit district received a report that a robbery had taken place at a gold shop in Soi Bang Yai, Mu 5, Wichit subdistrict. The thieves had stolen a two-baht-weight gold bracelet before fleeing on a motorbike. Investigators, led by Pol. Col. Somsak Thongkliang, arrived at the scene and reviewed CCTV footage. Shop employees recounted how the suspect, a tall individual disguised in a headscarf and a long-sleeved jacket, entered the store pretending to browse gold bracelets. At the same time, a woman in a yellow jacket entered, requesting to see gold necklaces. While the shop assistant was distracted, the disguised suspect snatched one of the gold bracelets and bolted from the shop towards a waiting motorbike. The woman in the yellow jacket then exited the store, feigning shock before calmly walking into a nearby shopping centre. The store staff quickly alerted the police. Following a review of security footage, officers identified and arrested Ms. Suphawadee, 24, who admitted to orchestrating the theft, while her partner, Mr. Pinij, 30, carried it out. Police then had her call Mr. Pinij to surrender. He was later arrested in Kathu district, along with the motorbike used in the crime and the stolen gold bracelet. During questioning, the couple admitted they had been selling pizza at local markets but had been struggling financially. With rising expenses and school fees for their child, they decided to steal the gold bracelet to sell for cash. Both suspects are now facing charges of theft using a vehicle to facilitate the crime and evade capture. They have been remanded into custody as legal proceedings continue. -- 2025-04-02 -

Marine Le Pen’s Political Future in doubt, verdict rocks French far right
Thanks. I could not agree more. And like what we see too much playing in the USA, the more fascist-minded and the more crooked they are, those French (and elsewhere) politicians like to parade as "patriots". It's revolting. -
