Another version.

When my Thai son was appraoching his wedding to his long-term Thai GF, son discovered that his to be brother in law (full on mid aged loud overweight ladyboy LB) was telling all of son's GF's family and extended family that by Australian law when a farang or a Thai child of a farang gets married to a Thai lady then every member of that extened family is entitled to a payment from the Aust. gov't. of 50,000Baht a month for life regardless of age employed / unemployed etc., and the ladyboys had already made a long list of names, ID numbers etc.

Son confronted LB and told 'this is not true', there is , call the Aust. embassy and check and son gave him the Aust. embassy tel no in Bkk.  Meanwhile family friend/Thai lawyer told the LB this claim was not true.

Son asked 'did you call the Aust. embassy and check? Answer 'NO, because embassies tell lies'.

Son had a not expensive large plastic banner made and put it up at his GF's mothers' house. Banner inluded the number of the Aust. embassy.

A couple of peole called the number and were told '100% not true'.

Son put up a second banner aimed at LB, saying 'khun xxxx (the LB) will be contacting you to apologize for his totally untrue claims about a monthly payment from the Aust. Embassy'.

LB disappeared for 6 mnths but copped hell from the family when he reappeared.

In Western countries you pay into a State Pension for 30-40 years and get a small proportion back on a weekly basis and pay 20% tax on the money.  That's more the realty. Pensions earned are based on contributions paid not age. Frozen pensions become nominal very quickly.

The Australian Old Age Pension is exempt from personal taxation.

Shouldn't have started it in the first place. Who cares what lowly peasants think of us, they don't set policy.

True. And "they," that is "these people," don't know anything and take greatest stock in rumors and superstitions for lottery wins. So one shouldn't generalize from the ignorant beliefs of some lowly peasants, as seems to have happened in the OP.

Thailand has its own social benefits system, and it works roughly as it does in other countries. It's well-known among middle class Thais and workers employed by companies, institutions, small businesses, etc. They know about taxes and contributions, of course, since they pay them, and the later benefits resulting. Foreign employees also get coverage. Foreign employers must contribute, under the law.

Mandatory benefits programs are required by Thai labor law. Many of these benefits are funded through social security contributions. Employers and employees are required to match monthly contributions—both paying 5% of an employee’s salary, monthly.

See the above for more details. Any assertion that a similar system is in place in the UK will be readily understood by a vast number of Thais.
