Yes, i would agree that it is the current campaign ( with the addition of window film ).

The FB thread i read concentrated on the trade in value hinting that it was somehow connected to a “ special price “ but that doesn’t really appear in the above article.

There are all the usual benefits, plus a 240,000 THB trade-in super valuation, so I think this is the best promotion at the moment if you have something to trade and plan to finance

 

 

240.000 is for the Seal premium

Anyway, if someone is interested, it's best to call their dealer. It's a rather complicated promotion, but it seems advantageous if you meet the requirements.

Above wording indicates if paying cash a person wouldn't qualify for the trade-in support promotion.   That kinda suck$.

That's often how this works between Financing company and car reseller... profit has to come from one way or another. I was once refused to pay cash a Toyota sure car, as I needed to get a 2 or 3 years loan mandatory.

The tents have to charge an extra 7% VAT on used cars, they will often waive it if you take finance.

I’m trying to keep my Seal battery between 20-50% with an occasional top up to 100%.
 

The ABB charger that comes with car is upgradable for Solar.  Probably not very easy to get the solar gubbins though.

Yes it does now show percentage of charge completed which is an outstanding feature IMO. 

 

With this new feature you don't need to stop, get out of your EV, and then physically touch the charger's display to estimate  when when the charging EV will reach 100%.  See if you want to wait....and then charger's displaying the charging EV(s) still has a long way to go to 100%....that's always a let down.

 

By being able to see the charging percentage completed "before" getting to the charger it allows a person to decide if they even want to stop & queue.  With me my queue limit is around 10 minutes especially when taking advantage of this free BYD charging promotion....I'm not the kind of person who will queue for long unless I've got no choice.  Fortunately, I've had to queue few times and for no more than 10 minutes.

 

So far since 3 Aug when I got my 1st free bucket of electrons I've availed 32 free charging sessions worth Bt5,046 for 641 KWH of free electrons according to my ReverSharger wallet history.   I'll probably be able to avail of around Bt10K of free electrons before the current promotion ends 3 Jan 2025...and I hope BYD extends it but I'm not holding my breath.

 

All of these free sessions have been on my way to or from a location like visiting the MIL, a grocery store run, etc.  No trips have been made solely to get free electrons.

 

I've started sessions where I still had 96% charge remaining to  28% remaining.  Quite a few times I've filled-up with free electrons at a charger close to my MIL's home and then on the way back to my Bangkok home about 55km away I get lucky and able to top-up again at a red pin charger about 10km from my home....then by the time I get home I'm setting at around 98%.

 

But on the "average" from my free charging history I start the charging around 67%...basically adding one-third of a battery tank of electrons.  Yeah...I've been pretty much availing myself of these free electrons whenever I can "but only" when I'm doing a routine trip like a MIL vist, groceries run, etc.

 

Me like free electrons.  And I haven't used my home wall charger since around 1 Aug.

The good thing about the Bangchak ReverSharger chargers is they have 2 large scrolling LED’s at the top of the charger showing at a glance roughly how much is left on each side until 100%. I utilised this myself recently, arriving at the Bangchak pump I could see both were very near completion so waited 5 minutes without leaving the car.

But of course the percentage in the app is better for both Bangchak and BYD chargers now.

 

I was reluctant to take advantage of the free charging offer as the first time seemed to create problems for people ( obviously after the process was clarified it is now a simple plug and play affair ) so didn’t charge outside until Aug 31st but then i caught the bug and haven’t paid for charging since then ( except the 26 baht service charge for my TOU ).

 

Since then i have accrued 527.96 kw ( worth 5,223 baht ) from only 8 visits, preferring to leave it to below 40%, one time was 15%.
I think out of the 8 visits i have had to wait only 3 times around 5,10 and 15 minutes.

 

I will be happy to accrue 10k from free charging although in reality it is a lot less as i would have used my TOU meter, but it is a feeling of getting something back from the dealer as my EV has been reduced by 50k since buying.

I agree...that's a nice feature...I've relied on that feature a lot as once you've compared lights to the actual charge level a few times you have a good ball park estimate of  the EV charge level by just looking at the lights....no need to get out of your EV to check the the actual charge level.    However, based on my experience all of the Bangchak ReverScharger chargers do not have the large scrolling LED light feature at the top....most seem to but definitely not all based on my experience in/around the Bangkok area. 

 

One example is a Bangchak ReverSharger charger about 10 minutes from me that I noticed "always" seem to only have 1 of 2 DC charging connector in use.  Last week I got the chance to swing by that particular charger and neither connector was in use...and no fancy scrolling lights on top either.  I pulled in, plugged-in and charged up.  But then I finally realized why 1 of 2 connectors "always" showed as available in the app and that was because one of the connectors was a Chademo connector which few EVs use now days.  And when I looked closer at the tiny print on the app it did show 1 of the 2 connectors as being Chademo...I had missed that when previously looking.  Plus there was only one parking slot for the charger...there was no room/no designated spot for a 2nd EV to charge at the same time if 2 EVs, one with a CCS2 connector and one with a Chademo connector, wanted to use the charger at the same time.  So, that's why it never showed both DC connectors in use.

 

And another example is when I dropped by another Bangchak ReverSharger one time on the way back from central, highrise Bangkok but both CCS2 connectors where in use and the charger was a different model with no large scrolling lights at the top....it was identical to the ReverSharger chargers I've seen/been using at several BYD dealerships that do not have the large lights on the chargers....must check the display screen for charge percentage.

Living in Ayutthaya i have less options for free charging than Bangkok dwellers, my nearest BYD showroom doesn’t even have any chargers, possibly has AC ?, so doesn’t show on the app.

I have 3 local options to choose from:

Bangchak, 9 km away but off peak.

BYD, 18 km away but busy.

Bangchak, 20 km away and my best option.

 

We do frequently travel to Mrs D’s hometown though and have a few more options including a BYD dealership out of town so remote it is not uncommon to find the staff asleep when going inside to use the toilets.

 

 We also frequently pass a Bangchak pump with 1 DC and 1 CHAdeMO which is usually vacant but as the DC is 50 kw try to avoid.

 

But, its all good, can get 450 km comfortably on a trip to rural Nakhon Sawan to visit the mil and still have 10 to 15 % buffer which i would top up overnight with my TOU prior to the free stuff.

Whereas before i would monitor my range to make sure i got back with some % left, now with the free options i tend to get my foot down harder and stop at one of the BYD options ( Uthai Thani or Chainat ) to get home with around 75%.
So, although i don’t go out of my way too much for the freebies i have changed my habits.

Well it appears to have caused some issues in incorrect charging schedule in Europe and the UK so has been shelved for a while.

 

I was more interested in an increase to the parking sensor warning volume which is now pretty low imho !

BKK insurance offered 20% NCD and a renewal of ฿38k while mentioning that all drivers need to be named. As my wife is under 30 my premium may increase.

I am a little surprised that all you guys seemed to be focused on is the cost of the insurance - what they offer in each package should be just as relevant. Case in point - AXA offered for a premium of over THB 44K a replacement value of only THB 900K, Some insurance is offered with THB 1 million, the most I could find was 1.2 million.

 

Another question is of course battery replacement - 90 to 100% is the typical range, which could also amount to quite some pocked change in case of an accident.

 

Naturally all other coverage details matter, but from my experience they seem to be quite uniform.

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting a Seal using the promotion. 

 

They offer 670k for my old car which is pretty much the same as you would get at the tents + 240k on top. The rest has to be financed (48 months, 1,98%). 

 

The monthly rate would be 11,009 THB for a Seal Premium which seems to be a quite decent deal.

Charging to 100% at least once a week is no problem for me having solar, but getting to less than 10% takes a bit more planning. I had a long trip yesterday and then used the car to power the house over night. For good measure we took the seal out in the morning for an Amazon Coffee.

 

I plan to fast charge it to 80% this morning then do the final 20% on AC at home 

 

What do other people do?

 

 

If I charged it all at home I couldn’t do it all from solar in one day

I got it down to 9% one time and then charged in one go up to 100% but it takes a while !!

I generally charge to 100% once a week and usually on a Sunday but now the step daughter is at uni and I am the designated driver to take her back my routine is on the fly !

TIP OF THE DAY: if your children are going to Uni don’t pick one 30 minutes down the road, its like they never left home !!

 

I am still working on the idea that < 10% to 100% is better done on AC , although have not seen anything in writing to that effect.

 

The free charging has changed the routine also, charged from 24% to 100% yesterday and currently have 73% so will let that get down to below 40% before charging again.

 

My next <10% to 100% will probably be after the New Year and on my TOU so will need a Sat afternoon onwards charge.

I believe they rotated mine in BYD CM. The car was up the ramp with tyres off. Forgot to ask though.

Yes...they are rotated at the annual/every 20K checkup.  The are not rotated at the initial 3 month/5K checkup.
