I went to my local Viriyah office after starting to complete the Rabbit Care online form and stopped when I found their questions too intrusive. I didn’t complete the form and just closed the page down, but they still started calling me.

 

I paid ฿32k including adding my 27 year old wife as a named driver. Half the staff from the office came out to look my Seal, it was obviously the first they had seen. 

 

A few years ago we asked BMW what the insurance for an iX1 would be and was told it would be ฿50k

I would wager a a bottle of VSOP that the insurance underwriters will stop shortly to issue 1.2M coverage for a one year old car, with the new car price at 1.2M.

I sat in a Sealion 7 yesterday morning, it has the dashboard of the new Seal when it comes, I like the dashboard a lot.

 

Salesmen told me the price was reduced to 1.1M for premium and 1.2M for Performance until December 10th, but this doesn't fit with the graphic posted earlier.

Have done the same today. It's a nice Car and feels bigger inside then the Seal plus to step in and sit in the Car is more comfortable. It is a 800V Battery  with 82.5 kwh, so not the bigger one you can get in China or Europe. The price for the Performance AWD is 1.2 M THB, but will go up after the Motorshow to 1.4 M THB and is available sometimes second half of December.

Out of interest I have asked what I would get for my 7 month old Seal Performance. They have made some pictures and copy of the blue Book and send it to a second hand Dealer where they are working with. After 20 minutes waiting I've got a price for my Seal. As response I've just told them if they want to keep me as a customer they should not give me such a answer. Turned around, wished a nice day and left.

we had language difficulties at the showroom yesterday, but I specifically asked if it was 800 V architecture or 400 V and the salesman said 400 V, but I wouldn’t necessary believe that

What was it max DC charging rate?  If it was rated at 150KW it's a 400V system; if around 240KW then it's an 800V system.

The present generation Seal sold in Thailand is 800V platform (shows around 630V) so I seriously doubt that the SL 7 is 400 to 500V. But of course 400V + is the correct answer...........that covers Voltage up to infinity  :sleepy:

Seems like the difference between the premium and performance model of the seal,or Sealion 7 is only 100k . Sure looks attractive and tempting to move up to the performance for the speed and awd even though you do not need it .

Well, when they say 400V and 800V architecture that is a "nominal" type name.  A 400V system can have a voltage range a 100 or so volts lower than 400V and even several hundred volts higher.    Pretty much ditto for an 800V architecture system....several hundred volts below and above the 800V "nominal" value.    And a key point is are we talking a 2024  Seal model or a 2025 Seal model....ditto for the Sealion.  But it seems if the charging rate spec is 150KW max then it's still a 400V system; if 240KW then it's a 800V system.

BYD calls it 800V when they refer to the 'e-platform 3.0' - hence my comment. Way back when, the 'e-platform 3.0' was announced, they called it 800V - it's not my invention. I think the confusion is about the meaning of 800V - this simply denotes the max. voltage of the DC charger. Only 800V capable chargers will give the max. benefits of e.g. a Seal battery pack. Older chargers have lower max. voltages and will not be able to pump a car with as many electrons.......remember P=V*I

Could you be more specific? 

 

When I went there with my Ford Ranger they made me a similar offer compared to what I received at Honda or Toyota dealerships which was 40% less than what I paid a year ago. 

 

Seems like the standard devaluation for most cars is 30-40% within the first year. So I wouldn't be offended if the offer was low. You also have to factor in all these huge price cuts for the Seal which impacts the used car market quite heavily.

So just got the OTA notification red dot.


Thinking it might be something of interest ( like the route planner etc which apparently can only be done at the dealership ) I eagerly took a look.

I don't think so.......back on Nov 14, the update was to V1.3.0..........and a few days later, they downgraded back to V1.2.2

 

I think it was because of the app not allowing cabin per-conditioning anymore, they downgraded again.

Nope … I don’t think so ….. 

I definitely got upgraded to V1.2.2 on Nov 14th

and didn’t get any other upgrade, or downgrade, until today when i got V1.2.2 upgrade ……. again.

Re: 1 year/20k service.

 

How many km’s did you do at your first year anniversary and did it have any effect on your service date ?

 

The reason i ask is my 1 year is Nov 30th and around mid Nov ( with 17.2k driven ) called the dealer for a service date, they replied with a “ call back after Nov 30th or at 19k” answer. 

Last Thursday, Dec 12th, called back with 18.4K on the clock and they are adamant we need to wait until 19k !!

( at 18,800km now and no plans to go anywhere may well be next week !, do they do Christmas dinner in Customer Lounge ).

 

Seems like they are really pushing the 19k target so I wondered what is the preferred target at other dealers, hence this question l.

 

Have never heard of this before as it is usually the “ whichever comes first “ rule ( 1 year OR 20k km ) and suspect i might be alone in meeting this.

 

I would assume few hit the 20k, or even 19k, and wonder what would have been their reaction if i was 8 or 10k for example.

 

Indeed, a couple of YouTubers in Oz had their services right at 1 year with 12k and 6.9k km driven.

 

Of course it might seem a little irrelevant on an EV as it is more of a check than anything but one of the Aussie youtubers had brought it up that BYD recommends a tyre rotation and wheel balancing at 10k in the manual !

 

Anyone do that ??

When I picked up my Atto in late Oct 2023 the salesperson point out "in English" to be sure to accomplish the warranty service check-ups plus or minus one month OR plus or minus 1,000Km.   

 

I had the 3 month/5,000Km checkup done at 2 months 3 days and 4,480Km.  

 

I had the 1 year/20km checkup done a few days under 10 months and at 19,200.  Had it done a little over 2 months before 12 months since I was within 1,000km of the 20,000Km checkup.

 

I'm now little under 14 months and have driven 27,700Km.   At the 12 month point I was probably around 23,000km.

 

A tire rotation every 10,000K is a typical recommendation for all tires....has been as long as I can remember.  One of those recommendations from tire manufacturers to allow the tires to last longer and also from tire/repair shops so they can make money on rotating the tires.   However, BYD will only accomplish a "free" tire rotation every 20,000km under their warranty program for Thailand.  If you want them to do it every 10,000Km you will need to schedule maintenance and "pay" for the rotation.

 

BYD owners in other countries operate under slightly different BYD warranty warranty rules and in Oz they have to pay for all checkups with the exception of the courtesy 3 month/5,000km checkup, whereas, in Thailand all checkups for 8 yrs/160Km are free.

I’ve often thought that the instrument cluster screen is cluttered unnecessarily with the stuff you disable appearing in orange colour icons.

If, like me, you have information ( I have past 50 km AEC ) portrayed in the middle of instrument cluster other than tyre pressures you are unlikely to notice the addition of another orange icon if one of your tyres goes below a certain threshold.

 

I normally flick onto the tyre pressure screen regularly to give me peace of mind.

 

Well today when i took a glimpse at the tyre pressure screen i got this:

The orange “low tyre pressure “ warning icon remains inconspicuous on the instrument cluster !

A red icon would perhaps be better me thinks ??

 

Luckily was near the BYD showroom and popped in, they soon spotted a rather large screw embedded in the tread and pointed me in the direction of the nearest Be - Quik after putting 40 psi in the offending tyre to get me there.

(In the old days) it used to be standard practice to rotate the wheels [at every service I think].

This helped the tyres wear evenly including the spare.

Last service and problem I had with the CRV, (water in the break pistons causing rust and front discs sometimes staying in contact with the pistons) I bought some new tyres as well, they said come back in 10000km to check and rotate the tyres.

Yeah, it states in the Seal manual to rotate every 10k but BYD only service at 20k so easily gets forgotten ……. well i forgot !
