Oh dear...shades of Hongkong. I'm sure Chinese tourists will just love having Chinese police monitor them when on holiday.   Maybe Russian and Indian police will be invited also......

We have had Western police for many many years, as the Tourist Police Volunteers and the Foreign Police Assistants. They have pretty limited authority  and have to have regular police with them and no power of arrest. Probably find them sitting around playing with their phones.

Silly comparison.. comparing a few farang assistants to an actual foreign police force is nonsensical.

Interesting; Thailand stops at absolutely nothing to lure Chinese money into the country.

Having foreign police on your own turf means, in no unclear way, that the local boys are simply not able to do the job as good as their foreign colleagues. In Thailand though it is not inability but unwillingness to part with bribes, kick-backs, beer money or whatever else you want to call it. Anutin, the interior minister, is also too busy accepting honorary doctorate degrees in public health and hence has not sufficient time to focus on his present job cleaning up this tremendous pot of corruption. As a surplus, if anything goes wrong with a Chinese as of now, the Royal Thai police can blame ....... their Chinese counterparts for not doing their job :violin:

Thailand is making itself yet another laughing stock again. In other, more civilized countries which have arrived in the 21st century 23 years ago, police is not even crossing provincial borders; the difference between a state trooper and a federal police officer.

What a joke!

...if ever there was any evidence needed of chinas colonization of south east asia, well, here it is folks!

Words avaid me

I'm a huge proponent of a colonial police force since Thai's are so useless here. Chinese though? no way. Someone more honorable like Japanese or any number of European/Anglo countries would be perfect.

so worldwide taxation, no more pot, and chinese police patrolling soi cowboy

Where is Thai pride? Is Thailand admitting that it's own police force is unable to maintain law and order? What power will the Chinese cops have? Will they be able to grab unruly Chinese citizens holidaying here who may have been critical of the Chinese govt. Can they grab citizens of other countries. eg USA/UK

If you, as a UK or US citizen do or say or publish something which displeases the Chinese, and if you are subsequently picked up by Chinese Police operating in Thailand, under the authority of some "memorandum of understanding" or whatever, do you think that Thailand will actually do anything to protect you?

You would be on the next plane to China.

Dont expect an average person there to realize how appalling this really is!

Did you maker the same commment when western police came here to assist as well?

What rights will the Chinese police officers have?

given free reign as usual by the Thai government

This is to keep an eye on Thai police who scam Chinese businesses more than the agreed deal.

So red envelopes as well as the traditional brown?

Thailand-In an unusual move, Chinese police will join Thai police in tourist hotspots to patrol

To be fair to all, why not have a UN peace keeping force patrol? UN might even foot the bill. Think of the revenue that such a force would bring to Thailand. Win-Win.

Every other country around the world is trying to get rid of them, nothing but spies checking up on ex chinese living abroad who are trying get away from big brother. What next, chinese helping Thai immigration, CCP scum at its best.

had to read it 3-4 times to make sure I was understanding it correctly  ROFL

will this new police controlling Tourist Hot Spots will be multilingual proficiency as the current Thai Tourist Police is 555

for the skeptical ones that didn't believe Thailand was becoming the 23rd province of China, this new decision by Thai government maybe will convince them..... GOD have mercy, they don't know with whom they are going to bed/sleeping with

they now tell Thailand what they can and can not published, HK and Macau started like that, look where they are now. The new world order by Xi Jiping it's my way or my way

1 = China then we in #2= China and to finalize the top 3 we now have at #3 = China

In Europe, illegal police stations are being used to threaten and silence dissidents.

Chinese police in Thailand will do same

When you authorize the Chinese police to operate in your territory it means that the law that regulates this police is Chinese and no longer Thai. So now onwards if you are stopped by Chinese police I would have to answer to Chinese laws even if you live in Thailand.

That the Chinese police only control Chinese people is a joke.

It will be interesting to see what the license plates of these Chinese police cars will be.

How long before there's a Chinese Policeman on each Chinese tourbus in Thailand?

Bet they will be more effective than the farang clowns I know disguised in tourist police

REPLY: You are exactly correct. They already feel like they can do anything they want. Sad because I have a lot of Chinese exporters that I've never had an issue with. I think that people there don't agree with what the country is doing. Only my thoughts though....who knows.

Makes you wonder what would happen if, you as a foreigner, say something against the CCP, and the CPP issues an arrest warrant for you, do the Chinese police find you, arrest you, then drag you back to their country on a military/private plane?

So racial profiling?

Nothing to do with racism..

What happen to the tourist police dept?

Chinese police patrolling, and the Chinese embassy instructing Thai media what and how to report about Taiwan... Whom is Thailand kidding that it is still an independent country?

Have You ever been accused of something by the arm

of the Ccp?

The current Thai government is run by the Chinese. Message to the Thai people, WAKE UP, YOU ARE BEING TAKEN OVER !

I have no confidence in the current policing set up here let alone will I derive any confidence from a chinese zombie in uniform.
