I hate PC and despise woke. It doesn't keep me awake at night though.

The forest is lifestyle and pleasure in living. Western people are not happy. Thais used to be happy in general, but the more westernised they have become the unhappier they have become.

I've seen Thailand go from a poorer and happier country to an angry and unhappy one, though not wealthier for the masses. The smile vanished long ago, and I was fortunate enough to see it for real, not on a TAT poster.

Even now though, given the choice I'll go back to live in LOS in preference to the west, which you consider so superior.

I may not know much, but I know it's a better life there than here. Many thousands of farangs, some of which post on this forum also prefer Thailand to the western <deleted> they escaped from. Who cares if the Thais never invented anything, not I.

I did not invent the microchip

Neither did I, but it hasn't made my life better, or wealthier. I just waste time on the internet instead of doing something worthwhile- yes I'm an internet junkie, to my everlasting shame.

Do you know what the internet is used most for? Apparently for porn! 50,000 years of progress and the best humans can come up with is easier access to porn!

Not at all. As a former victim of Australian family law, I totally agree with you.

When my son was at university in Australia, he observed a similar ratio of female students selling sex. I occasionally feel envious, he was one of two males in a dormitory of 30 females.

Making such an insinuation would be furthest from my thoughts.

Did he actually have a harem sex life though? I worked with hundreds of educated women, but it didn't lead to bountiful sex by any means. Such things are illusions in the fevered minds of young boys in the grip of puberty, IMO.

My experience of dating was, I assume fairly average, many free dinners and movies for young women and lacking in leg overs. That was a long time ago ( before the pill ), so perhaps it's different now.

When I were young back in the UK.

3 dates = 1x sex

My post noted that Thais are taught of their superiority, only (for some) to find out they alone so believe.

And in fact this was nonsense and simply part of a fantasy to support an overall superior attitude on your part, perhaps analogous to Brits who find that they alone believe they are superior. Not that they care; if you know, you know. Chagrin must arise sometimes from the intellectual heirs of Isaac Newton, John Stuart Mills, Bertrand Russell, Alan Turing, etc. to be outright banned from countries who know them well,

From Barcelona to Malia: how Brits on holiday have made themselves unwelcome

But in Thailand so much disappointment arises when expected servility from their natural inferiors isn't forthcoming. Hence the need to reaffirm superiority, not to mention the constant whinging.

Good question, I don't know. I suspect he did quite well for himself. He was pretty fit, IIRC on his second or third dan in martial arts.

He always kept quiet about his dating, even when his mother was trying to get details from him. IME the ones who talk about sex a lot don't get much, and the ones who are reticent might be scoring freely.

i did happen to see an empty condom six -pack in the wastebasket of his student accommodation. AFAIK there is no evidence 18-19 yo women are less randy than their male counterparts.

Facts are not arrogant. I did not invent the microchip, so I'm not taking credit directly or by association with Jack Kilby. I can point to inventors and discoverers all over the world, from large and small countries, but not a single one from Thailand. To the best of my knowledge, Maxwell wasn't Thai. Nor Faraday. Nor Niels Bohr. Nor Einstein, Newton, Planck, Dirac, Galileo, Franklin, Archimedes, Pythagoras, Rousseau, Mills, Poincaire, von Neumann, Salk....none of those who have done so much to explain what life and existence and the laws of nature are.

As for exploiting other nations, most regions have taken their turn at doing it, whether it's the Greeks, Romans, Vikings, Mongols, Moslems, Brits, Dutch, Spanish, Italians, Americans....we tend to concentrate on the latest. Certainly Southeast Asia is no stranger to intra-regional conflicts and invasions, some of which still simmer today, such as in southern Thailand.

My post noted that Thais are taught of their superiority, only (for some) to find out they alone so believe. That some men come to Thailand finding the women appealing has zero bearing on anyone's superiority or inferiority. It's simply a personal taste for some. A few hundred thousand (at most) men in a world with 4 billion males is not even a rounding error.

You fail to see the forest for the trees, for some reason bogged down with pointless worries about wokeism or PC. In the overall scheme of things, those are not even minor issues. One might surmise that inability to succeed in your own culture and society has left you bitter and has you seeing Thailand as something it might not be. Maybe you should move back to Thailand and rid yourself of the "wokeism" that is so stuck under your craw.

I can assure you "wokeism", "uber PC" and the extreme end of "me too", are not something isolated to @thaibeachlovers. It is something millions of us have huge issues with. It is tearing at the very fabric of modern civilization and culture, and making us weaker by the day.

My own society left me disappointed , disenchanted, and bored to death. Not bitter. I am thrilled that I left it behind, and made the move here, every single day of my life.

AFAIK the bum gun is unique to Thailand, and an outstanding contribution to personal hygiene and the environment.

i suppose one could claim the bidet preceded it.

What is the connection between what I said, and good sci-fi? I am curious. Seen both, and love sci-fi.

Obviously the connection is that the movies show that a super intelligent species of aliens would never in a million years consider coming to Earth, and gave the idea to some of our posters, who dutifully repeated it here. :)

It's only a theory ......

If you want to believe you are the descendent of monkeys, feel free

I prefer to believe I am the descendent of super intelligent aliens that crashed on this planet, then forgot their origins.

The evidence for either theory is the same ..... As in NONE.

My western partner was a well respected head of a charity, and everyone she knew loved her.

She ignored her children in pursuit of her career and took me to the cleaners ( at least she certainly cleaned me out ) when I walked away from her.

She wasn't a "gold digger" as I had no gold, but she still took my nice car, and my house that I loved.

Compared to her, bargirls were saints.

Sorry that happened to you...

Yes, I once changed the age search criteria in my Tinder profile to 35-50. I changed it back to 18-35 within 10 minutes.

Anyone listened to the video that follows the OP - about Thai defamation laws?

This guy tries to defend the laws by using that old thing your mother used to say 'if you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all'.

Interestingly he refers quite clearly to hotel reviews as examples. Why shouldn't people be able to write bad reviews if what they say is true?  Can't work this guy out at all. All I would say to him if I had the chance is that its nothing to do with cultural differences. Most Thai's I know also don't agree with the defamation laws and would love to be able post honest hotel reviews, be they good or bad.

PS. I'm not looking for replies as its sort of off topic, I just thought some of you might find his next video interesting.

I'm puzzled as how you claim to know such a lot about myself when you get it so wrong in that?

If I failed in "my own culture" it was only in getting leg overs from willing women, and in truth I gave up even bothering with western women after my first disastrous relationship showed me how two faced they can be. Nice as pie till they get everything they can out of you willingly, and then suck on the corpse of the relationship for any remaining scraps of benefit for themselves.

Far as work goes, I had three successful careers, so where was the 'failure" in that?

Regarding Thailand, I fail to understand why I "see Thailand as something it might not be" when I spent many decades in that wonderful country, and saw both the good and bad of the place. I love Thailand, but am aware that it's not perfect by far, though I preferred it to any western culture, which may appear superficially superior, till one looks under the carpet, to see the hidden deficiencies. One thing I liked about Thailand was that it doesn't hide it's bad side- it's right out there in full view, unlike western countries that are just as corrupt, but manage to hide it enough to pretend it doesn't happen "as much" as in so called third world countries.

If Thailand has a really unfortunate characteristic, it's that it has welcomed all the bad stuff from western culture, to it's own disadvantage.

For just a couple of examples of that, many once beautiful beaches were destroyed to provide flashpacker accommodation for western tourists, and the plague of western fast food chains has been a disaster for Thai health. I never used to see an obese Thai when I first arrived in LOS, but now they are all over the place.

As a last example of how little you know about me, I'd never have left Thailand if it had been my choice. Sometimes we don't get to do what we want.

Thanks for the support.

I am envious of you and any western guy that managed to permanently escape the dead hand of western society. I did my best to, but sadly my best wasn't good enough.

Thank you. It happens to loads of guys, but somehow, there are always loads more suckers out there for women to exploit. The power of the <deleted> is strong.

It's male genetic programming that most men lack the will to fight.

Men compete for women, so will support all women against all men in the hopes (conscious or subconscious) of a free shag.

Obviously it doesn't work as women hate soft men above all.

My woman is different, I never pay for sex, don't bang bar girls, find a respectable educated woman ...... All variations on the same genetic programming.

Well, was it good sex, or a fumble in the back of a small British car?

I didn't lack for sex as long as massage parlours were there to subvert the law at that time, but a half hour quickie is vastly inferior to a long time of the Thai variety.

I laughed when you included the time honoured phrase " I never pay for sex"! We all pay in the end, one way or another, even if it's only the mental anguish of realising what we actually did it with- the horror, the horror.

I'm more than happy to pay 500-1000bht to follow my basic genetic programming to impregnate as many different females as possible.

More than once. There was a time in Sri Lanka that was so bad it can never be erased from my memory banks, actually 1 1/2 times as the second time I almost broke the door down in my haste to escape.

If you want to rank sex from bad to good on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being awful and 5 being elevated to the stars, almost all my sex was a 2 or 3. Few 1s thankfully, and no 5s, though I did achieve more than a few 4s with my wife to be, though that ended once she had the paper signed and it became 3s till even that ended.

I thought the Saudis scrubbed their @rses with sand, before the West found oil for them.

They did, with their left hand, which is why they eat with the right hand. The Bedouin probably still do.

Oil and western money gave them many things like running water and cars, so they don't ride camels any more.
