webfact
Minister of Health Santi Prompat highlighted the significant growth in the market for Thai massage and food as a form of soft power for the nation. He also emphasized the rising value of herbal consumption, which has increased to 90,000 billion baht, making Thailand the third highest in Asia. This occurred during a special assembly and policy communication meeting at the Richmond Hotel yesterday. Thailand’s unique wisdom in traditional Thai medicine and herbs can drive health tourism by blending well with modern medicine, clearly driving health economy policies. This was evident during the Covid-19 situation, as people became more interested in health, Thai food, and herbs. This is partly due to the efforts of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine in driving the health economy, such as promoting Thai massage for job creation and profession, Thai food for health, herbal products, and health care in wellness communities, reported KhaoSod. Santi revealed the government has a policy to support the creation of creativity, or soft power in the country. Then both the baby and the bath water goes right out the window. Traditional Thai Massage and Traditional Thai Medicine - without cannabis - will not generate 90k Billion THB in revenues. 1

Popular Post isaanistical
90,000 billion baht is approx two and a half trillion US dollars, around half the US national debt. Thailand is not worth that much, let alone herbs. As so often, one is left wondering how much comes out of Thai officials' mouths and how much from the other end. Perhaps the good minister for health should have visited the Loy Krathong market at my local temple [phra pathom chedi] the rows of utter garbage on sale was unbelievable. 90% of it was why the health of Thais is on the decline and serious illnesses are on the increase. 1

But, don't forget that Thailand has a low score in PISA-tests, also for math... "In PISA 2018, Thailand ranked 68th in reading out of the 79 PISA-participating countries and economies, 59th in mathematics and 55th in science, ahead of only Indonesia and the Philippines in the EAP."
