Although, as that dictionary example showing its usage in this sense indicates, it should be "zoomed off" not just "zoomed" by itself.

 

So in normal usage, it would be:

 

"A TRUCK DRIVER who zoomed off to escape a police search ..."

Ok that I understand.  Saying just zoom had me thinking he put it on social media site.
