Another well thought out response from the left. That's what they teach in graduate school, yes?

What do you mean by left?

Nobody has ever accused me of being "from the left"

Besides that LGBT on TV is portrayed, not "promoted", just like how showing hetero relationships or whatnut are simply portrayals, not promotions of the hetero hegemony, to say "kids want to be gay or trans" because it has become "cool" is as moronic a statement as saying: Now that it is more acceptable to be more open and honest about your own sexuality, what a perfect time to closet your real heterosexuality and fake being gay. Your totally twisted in a knot premise is that more people are lying about themselves because there is more opportunity to be honest about themselves. Good luck with that.

“ Portrayed not promoted” then why is there such a thing as gay lobbying?

Well, you can't say that anymore.

In my country, left is associated with socialism, that's definitely not me.

So have you turned down your government pension(socialism) or your government health care(socialism) if your country has those or similar?

Do you mean the compulsory contributions towards my pension I have been paying into all my working life?

Or the compulsory National Insurance contributions I have made to fund the National Health Service?

Since not given the option, to not invest in govt pension, that myself & employers paid into, I'll keep being a blight on society.

If having the choice, and since my investment give better returns than the (bankrupt) govt, yes, I'd rather not have paid into the social programs, and simply done my own investing with those funds.

Self employment tax Soc Sec tax is 12.4%

On a conservative $50k X 12% X 5% int X 30 years:

image.png.01f1a35ab3724dd3223b0e43f2005d4e.png

That pretty much matches my Soc Sec for 20 yrs, if I was to live till 86 yrs old.

10% return would give $1+M, so about 2.5X for 20yrs what SS pays.

I don't think I've ever had an investment pay less than 25% after my learning curve.

RE wise, first house I bought at $24k, and worth $118k only 15 yrs later.  That didn't cost me anything, as the tenants paid the mortgage.  I lived rent free in 1 apt.  Or when rented, paid my mortgage for the next house I was prepping to rent as I lived in it.   Next house, I just paid cash.

Rinse & repeat.

For intelligent people, social security (USA) is a terrible investment.   That  the max is about $2500 a month is an embarrassment.

Of course that 2 term Congress person is 100% vested with their retirement.  Different set of rules for them.

Social programs are for lazy idiots ... IMHO

Yes. The social programs. That's how they work. You contribute and collect later. All left wing. You should quit them all now and refuse the healthcare.

Not left wing.  The UK NHS was founded following a cross party report of all political parties, both left & right.

There is no such thing as heterosexual lobbying so that should tell you something.

Does anyone working have a choice to not fund it?

gad damn... with nothing much to watch i started watching 'Hightown'. i cant believe this show... there is a minimum of 2 explicit sex scenes per show. one hetero and one gay. as i said before, if a show needs sex scenes to keep it going then the writers either suck, or they must meet demand. were there anything else right now on that i hadnt seen i would boycott this show. damn it sucks! literally

I tried watching "1899" and it was bad enough with all the idiocy, and then a few episodes in, a couple of men doing the nasty and the rich white guy brutalizing his wife, that ends up falling into the arms of the only black guy on ship.

i gave up 15 minutes into the first show... bad screen play, bad acting and overall... dead in the proverbial egg.

1883 and 1923 on the other hand are pretty good. no need for over hormonal bad porn acting in these shows. i always believed that if you need sex in your shows its cause your story sucks... if you want porn, plenty on the internet...

You might love it. I think I made it until four or five and might get back to it if I run out.

Hmm.

I think that's a good show.

I enjoyed the Provincetown / Cape Cod setting very much.

There would be naturally be lots of LGBTQ characters there.

Maybe you don't know the area.

It got mostly good reviews.

Hadn't realized there's a third season so thanks for that.

So you're kind of an outlier on that.

As far as sex scenes in shows, if they make sense in the context of the plots, they SHOULD be there.

I don't know. I was lukewarm about it and stopped it. There is so much incredible stuff to watch that it's hard to bother with stuff that doesn't grab you.

I do not mind homosexuals in shows, I just don't like sex scenes, homo or hetero, and I don't think they generally add anything. I don't need to see people having sex to know they are having sex.

Kinsey scale -- 100 percent either way is very unusual.

Sex sells.
