I was learning the guitar while wintering over in Antarctica, but someone had a fight in the bar and broke the only guitar on the base. Never too late to take it up again. Hours of enjoyment for you , and annoyment for the wife. I had also given it up for decades since my youth. And only took it up now that I am retired and have the time. Unfortunately as we age the my left hand is not very cooperative, and my pinky locks up , it is called trigger finger, I saw a doctor about it, first we tried steroid injections but it did not help, so he suggested surgery, which would had required the left hand pinky to be immobilized four three months. So I just stay away from chord changes that require pinky action. Lucky for me it's not the pinky I use to pick my nose

But defiantly better than the local drunks, on the back garden karaoke machine at 2 am.

Why post this comment, adds nothing to the thread. I think my favourites are all bias, based on the types of music I like. Yardbirds, Clapton, Beck, Page. Who, Townsend. Muddy Waters B B King Being tone deaf does not help.

I only ever learned one song before the guitar got smashed in a bar brawl ( and by a good American friend of mine to boot ), and I kept getting requests to learn another. I have no doubt they were all happy I was no longer the base guitarist.

That's where I first saw him, at the Blues factory maybe '94 or'95. He had his own club for a short time, then became a regular at Hot Tuna. He's 79 now and fighting illness. Here's a write to what I think is the last time he performed. https://www.pattayamail.com/news/lam-morrison-reignites-the-stage-in-epic-rock-the-night-concert-439011

Andrew Dwyer
I grew up listening to: Steve Howe Ritchie Blackmore Dave Gilmour Paul Kossoff Duane Allman Eric Clapton Joe Walsh Jimmy Page Rory Gallagher Carlos Santana Alvin Lee then came : Gary Moore Robert Cray Kenny Wayne Shepherd Mark Knopfler Doyle Bramhall ll More than enough great guitarists to keep me happy into my old age and I stopped looking for anything new, i can happily live off the classics from the early 70’s, don’t need any new stuff …… at least that’s what I thought until i discovered Derek Trucks !! A breath of fresh air, his unique phrasing brings a whole new dimension of joy. Solo or together with Susan in Tedeschi Trucks , doesn’t matter it’s all good . Check out Layla Revisited for a classic album brought back to life.
