He is turning 75 soon.

Given he delayed return due to health reasons it is possible those health issue are infact real and are why he is in hospital.

That's true. If so, the authorities could have reported openly from the start and avoided speculation but, instead, chose to let the entire affair become a farce. Thaksin is an ex-policeman which is probably why he is receiving treatment at an RTP hospital. On the plus side, he was the instigator of the 30 baht health scheme during his PM tenure.
