Data Roaming and International Roaming are separate components. International Roaming is necessary for receiving SMS and calls. You can disable Data Roaming and use WiFi for Internet/Applications etc

But my access to any of my local Belgian providers was with a red mark no access until i did put roaming on again ....

AIS DATA roaming putting OFF was no problem as i had acces to my local Be. Wifi

Just mentioning like situation was ,not making a point

  • Could be a problem for us foreigners being temporary outside Thailand in  home country ......

  • They want to confirm identity so when they sell your number to the scammers who are always calling. Those scammers can be sure they know who you are. My wife has been getting a lot of calls from these

That’s just what I wrote; International Roaming ON, Data Roaming OFF(using WiFi instead).

AIS send me at least once a day a meaningless SMS to ask me to get their latest product (or the whole message is in Thai so I don't know what it is) - I always ignore them. Does this mean I should look out for the one that actually means something?

Do you have six SIMs registered in your name with AIS? If not, then no.
