My order from Lazada arrived just now. The pack has "natural MELATONIN" in big letters, which is why I ordered it. On examining the small print on this Made In Thailand product (easily recognisable by the American Stars & Stripes flag on the pack) I am somehow neither disappointed nor shocked to see that Melatonin is conspicuous by its absence. Yup! (or rather nope) when they say "natural melatonin" they mean "contains no melatonin at all, in fact completely free of the substance" which now seems perfectly logical. "This Is Thailand" after all, the country I love and have made my home.

I shall try a capsule tonight, with its usual cocktail of "natural ingredients" and "vitamins" you'd need a Hubble telescope to detect, but I expect nothing, and I'm sure I shan't be disappointed. If you can bear the excitement, I will be posting a live update to this thread, probably about 3:00 a.m., so do check back.

(Incidentally, I have no trouble at all falling asleep, I'm not insomniac in that way, it's the rhythm of sleep that's somehow lost with age - as with so many things - I wake up after a couple of hours sleep, stare at the dogs for a while, go to the bathroom, back to sleep - rinse and repeat. Melatonin definitely helped me glide over the shallows back into satisfying sleep.)

A few weeks ago I searched Lazada and Shopee for melatonin as my wife wanted to try it.  Though there were many sleep aids, only one used melatonin in the name, that was "Natural Melatonin" presumably the one you bought. At that time the fuzzy label claimed (in Thai) that each capsule contained 1.05 micrograms of melatonin. That's 1000s of times less than legitimate melatonin products.

The reference to 1.05 μg of melatonin is now gone.

"Natural Melatonin" claims to  contain tart cheery, chamomile, and lemon balm. Many plants do have trace amounts of melatonin, which may be how they perpetrate their hoax.

Before buying, I would confirm that the ingredients panel lists from 1 to 10 milligrams of melatonin. It may be best to order from iHerb as Sheryl suggested.

There are several things on the Lazada site that say "Melatonin" inthe name but contain no melatonin. All made in Thailand. AFAIK there is NO Thai made product containing melatonin.

On Lazada site at present I see only one actual melatonin product, made by Life Extensions which is US company.

iHerb has many brands. Delivery is fast and reliable.

And has previously mentioned Lien shopping currently has Puritan Pride brand, my personal favorite.

Six days ago, I ordered Puritan Pride, melatonin, 5mg, from Lazzada. It showed no tracking and today, I got the message that the order was cancelled.

Three days ago, I ordered a different 5mg melatonin Puritan Pride product from Lazzada and today I got a message it is going through customs in China.

I looked at Iherb and it seems to accept orders under 5mg and reject orders over 5mg.

I tried to sign up for iherb, but it will only accept a US adress?

I do not remember what address I used when I registered but I think it was my Thai  address. Certainly all my deliveries are to my Thai address.

Make sure you register in the iHerb Thailand site https://th.iherb.com/

If you are after Puritan Pride you can buy it in 10mg dose through Line Shopping. I did just a week ago and already received it, shipping from within Thailand. 500 baht for 120 caps.

Just found this thread as I'm considering melatonin.

At Fascino 14 tablets 2mg are 570 baht.

So did a search on Lazada for Puritan Pride, and found a high rated seller.

120 tablets 5mg are 597, but 120 capsules 10mg are the exact same price.

I would have expected that 10mg would cost more than 5mg for the same quantity, so what is the difference between tablets and capsules?

Edit: I now see that 120 tablets 3mg are also the same price. Something fishy?

The only difference is that the 5mg are coated tablets, while 3mg are tablets.

Anyone can advise what the difference is between capsules - tablets and coated tablets, and which I should order?

Note to self - Buy in home country. I get the 5 mg dissolvables 250/ for like 300 baht.

Turns out melatonin helps dogs with hair loss. The price at the vet's was something crazy.

The local pharmacy that used to stock it can't get it any more. It's basically a harmless and beneficial natural product (classified as a food additive in the US) that helps me get a decent night's sleep. Can anyone tell me of a supplier? Online is fine. Thank you.

Do not buy melatonin from Lazada, I just did that and it never worked, I can only assume that it was fake from one of their cheating sellers. I previously bought the same melatonin also from Lazada and it was fine.

IHerb has many brands and no, it is NOT "banned", and sent through iHerb it will not get confiscated. IHerb does limit the quantity that can be ordered at one time and they do this based on experience with shipments to Thailand.

Lazada and Shoppee  have it on and off. Currently Lazada has only Life Extension brand liquid melatonin. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/american-life-extension-quick-acting-liquid-melatonin-citrus-vanilla-flavor-59ml-sleep-i5023787814-s21237470407.html?c=&channelLpJumpArgs=&clickTrackInfo=query%3ALiquid%2BMelatonin%2BLife%2BExtension%3Bnid%3A5023787814%3Bsrc%3ALazadaMainSrp%3Brn%3A763a2c01fc45089fbaefcfed2cf33ede%3Bregion%3Ath%3Bsku%3A5023787814_TH%3Bprice%3A736%3Bclient%3Amobile%3Bsupplier_id%3A1000227943%3Bbiz_source%3Ah5_internal%3Bslot%3A0%3Butlog_bucket_id%3A470687%3Basc_category_id%3A12211%3Bitem_id%3A5023787814%3Bsku_id%3A21237470407%3Bshop_id%3A456229&fastshipping=0&freeshipping=0&fs_ab=2&fuse_fs=&lang=th&location=ต่างประเทศ&price=736&priceCompare=skuId%3A21237470407%3Bsource%3Alazada-search-voucher%3Bsn%3A763a2c01fc45089fbaefcfed2cf33ede%3BunionTrace%3A2151e60617064199556271858e30c5%3BoriginPrice%3A73600%3BvoucherPrice%3A73600%3BdisplayPrice%3A73600%3BsourceTag%3A%23auto_collect%231%24auto_collect%24%3BsinglePromotionId%3A-1%3BsingleToolCode%3AmockedSalePrice%3BvoucherPricePlugin%3A1%3BbuyerId%3A0%3ButdId%3AwpA86wG6ZDp2YCAQEE%2BxF%2F6D%2FI%3Btimestamp%3A1706419956174&ratingscore=0&request_id=763a2c01fc45089fbaefcfed2cf33ede&review=&sale=2&search=1&source=search&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.0&stock=1&pdpBucketId=5

Line shopping has Puritan Pride (excellent brand) melatonin 10 mg. 500 baht for 120 capsules.

The only thing you are likely to find in a pharmacy is Merck's Circadin, expensive and only 1 mg dose.

Sheryl, is it true that Melatonin or Circadin is not addictive, or at least very little addictive?

How addictive is Melatonin?

Ok, so I've read most of these posts, all suggesting various potions. So now about a very natural way to induce sleep? No potions and no cost.

I originally came across this method in a TED talk by Jim Donovan and now I've found a shortened. but very affective version on YouTube. This really does work and it is so unbelievably simple. Give it a go.

With some people almost everything can be addictive as their brain becomes used to it and they feel they need it to sleep or just feel normal. This is a mental issue.

I take it, it was prescribed by a physician but I can but it anywhere. it is called Circadian or something like that.

There is a difference between 'addiction' and 'habit forming'...

People do not become addicted to Melatonin - it has no addictive properties where there is a physical dependence develops...

However, there maybe a psychologically dependence that develops where a long term user 'thinks' they need it to sleep, this is a behavioural dependence, not a biological one.

However, habitual and long term use can result  may reduce your body's reliance on its natural production temporarily (because you're supplementing what it would otherwise produce).

(Oh and above - its The circadian rhythm which is like the body's biological clock -  just in case anyone thought I was serious about the insect !).
