jbowman1993
Stupid me. Today I felt the urge to buy a Home Theater System. Impulse buy, of course, but it was on sale. I bought a Sony DVD Home Theater model DAV-DZ555K Silly me, i forgot to think if it was region free or not. I get home set it up, and its NOT. lol Only region 3. Can anyone help me unlock this machine. I know that people have talked about doing that, but I don't have much experience in this area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JB
Crossy
It seems that Sony 'aint the easiest to find hacks for (the ones I found are dead links) Try this chap http://dvdunlocks4u.co.uk/page1.html not free but not excessive either Edited July 21, 2007 by Crossy
jackspratt
Also have a look here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks If it does not have the exact model, look for a similar model, and try that.
Gumballl
I believe that you will still be able to view DVDs that are not region-encoded. Those types of DVDs are plentiful in LOS. Goto Panthip or other outlet. I live in the US with a Region-1 DVD player. Panthip DVDs work just fine. If you already have a collection of DVDs that are region-encoded from your home country, you can strip away the encoding using DVDShrink (or other similar PC application) and then reburning the image to a DVD-R. jbowman1993
Thanks for all the help. I took the time to actually try some region 1 dvd's in my machine, and they actually work. Must be the way they are sold in THailand. Thanks for all the help, everyone who replied!
ungcas
You can also look at this sony forum, http://www.agoraquest.com/searchbb.php When I had a very specific problem with my sony HT, this was the only place i could find any information about it. And the information was dead on.
