A 14 year old Thai boy died in hospital after two teenagers threw a knife at him on a road in the Isaan province of Ubon Ratchathani last Thursday, February 1.

An altercation between two groups of Thai teenagers on Khutkhaopun-Pathummarat Road was reported to Kut Khaopun Police Station at about 8pm on February 1. A 14 year old victim was injured in the knife attack and swiftly taken to a hospital by witnesses before police officers arrived.

Upon questioning two friends of the victim, the police learned that the victim and four other friends were travelling on two motorcycles when they encountered two rival teenagers on the road. The rivals brandished a knife, prompting the victim’s group to escape the scene.

another teen involved murder... A shortage of education and too much attention in the news.. Thailand like to copy so stop with broadcasting the clips they have made. Just mention what is goin on once and finish instead of showing the clip 10 times and talking about it for 30 minutes... the attention the more fame for the criminal

40 to 50cm knife......wow......sounds more like a machete.....not the kind of thing you carry about in your pocket.

You'd be surprised....

You'd also be surprised at how many of theses, or similar, are kept in vehicles at all times.

firearms are less prevalent due to they're harder to get, plus of course, the cost.

The cost may be prohibitive but access probably quite easy if you move in the right circles.

Oh i'm sure it's easy to get a gun if you have money, much like everything else here.

Another aspect would b, by having a machete in your vehicle it's unlikely you'll get charged for this offence, particularly in rural thailand, everyone has them.

Youth criminals are on the rise in most countries that includes the west as well just a few days ago in my country a 15-year-old stabbed a 70-year-old grandmother to death in front of her 6-year-old granddaughter and stole her car. 4 youths got arrested aged 14 to 16 year old.
