Noisiest bird, newly arrived in CM: What is it?

Every year, about this time, one of the noisiest of birds arrives in Chiang Mai.

 

This bird begins its calls about this time, or around 6:06AM.

 

What does this bird actually look like?

 

The reason I ask is that I have never actually SEEN this bird.

I only HEAR this bird, making crazy calls every morning, from about now and for the next several weeks.

 

This must be a migratory bird, since it does not stay long here where I live.

 

When I first heard this bird, I thought it a bit annoying.

 

And then, I began to think of it as being somewhat exotic.

 

Now, I often ignore it, except, since I have never seen it, I just wonder....

 

What does it actually look like?

And, do you love this bird, or hate it?

And, have you ever photographed this bird?

 

If you have a few photos of this bird, then would you please post them here?

who laid its eggs in other birds nest and keep on  screeching all day long...

You NAILED it....(maybe)...

It often starts singing at about 4 am, as you say.

But, I have never actually seen it.

 

Also, I have come to rather enjoy it.

Just part of my love for the Thailand experience, I guess.

 

The noise of the rooster is an abomination.

The noise of the eastern Koel, (just taking your word for what it might be)...in no way....bothers me...

 

Also, how do you know if it might not be a Western Koel, instead of an Eastern Koel?

Always had a camera with me, as long as I can remember.  Dec 2018, bought one of them fancy interchangeable lens cameras.  Then picked up a fancy lens for wildlife.   Actually warmed up to rather easy, once understanding the basic of operation & manual settings.   

 

One could even set to automatic, and let the camera do all the thinking.  May miss of few snaps, or get a few more, depending on the situation.

I see some lovely birds from my balcony, yes i think the black one is noisy one. My favourites are the drongos with the long tail.

What you need is a "birding pal"

Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

But, in fact, some here know this bird well, just by my description of the time of day, and its noisiness.

 

Next time I have my Note4 handy, I will record this bird, and post the audio.

Considering they're feather lite 

 

I'm amazed at some of the birds plucking fish out of the water, and how the get back in the air.

Probably nothing more than an example of GROUND EFFECT.

 

This depends on the wingspan and the distance from ground to wing.

Having listened to the bird in the video kindly posted by KhunLa, I don't find it annoying at all.

 

Annoying is when my neighbor in the village has his stereo at maximum, and is playing Thai songs which sound like cats being tortured.

Well, anyway, the bird in the video posted by KhunLa is not the bird that I was referring to.

 

The bird I referred to in the Topic is MUCH more noisy, and MUCH louder.
