i guess to a certain extent yes ... but when it comes down to applying the correct rule of law it can be frustrating that the thai defendant can get away with causing farang heaps of grief, costs, personal damage and the likes....   anyway, just saying

So they know where the Tajik guy flew off to. He be sweating now. You can bet he read this article.

How did the Police ""KNOW"" it was a Tajik guy who did the deed ?  unless they were following this Tajik guy, for some other reason, and if so, surely they would have followed him to this house and 'Peeped" in through the windows, to see what he was up-to !
Or is this asking too much of the Police  ?

UPDATE:

Thai police hunt Tajik suspect in Russian man’s murder in Phuket
by Petch Petpailin

Thai police identified a Tajik man as a suspect in the murder of a Russian man at a cannabis farm in Phuket. The accused foreigner already left Thailand on March 12.

A 34 year old Thai man, Burin, filed a report on the missing Russian man, 42 year old Artur Mkhitarian, at Chalong Police Station yesterday, March 13. Burin explained that Mkhitarian was a customer of his car rental shop. Burin said Mkhitaryan’s girlfriend asked him to track the car’s GPS because she lost contact with her boyfriend on March 11.

Burin went on to explain that he discovered the car parked outside a house in the Chalong sub-district of Mueang district, Phuket, and promptly investigated the scene. Finding no occupants within the house, which was secured from the inside, and suspecting foul play, Burin promptly notified the police of the situation.

Officers broke into the house and found that it had been converted into a cannabis farm. Further investigation inside the house led to the discovery of Mkhitaryan’s dead body. He was found lying in a pool of his blood and bearing several wounds to his neck and body. Police believed that he died at least 12 hours before his discovery.

Evidence of a struggle was found inside the house, with cannabis plants scattered on the ground. Mkhitaryan’s body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for autopsy, and his death was reported to the Russian embassy.

According to the police report, the house was rented by a Thai woman who had a Tajik boyfriend, suspected to be the murderer. Police revealed that the Tajik man had previously operated a travel agency from the premises before converting it into a ganja farm.

Police told MGR Online that many foreigners came to the house to purchase cannabis. It remains unclear whether Mkhitarian was a buyer or a business partner of the Tajik man.

The Tajik suspect reportedly left Thailand on March 12. His Thai girlfriend, who leased the property, is due to be summoned for questioning shortly.

Emergency services remove the body of 41 year old Mr Artur Garnikovich from a two story residence in Chalong, Phuket on Wednesday. Mr Artur (inset) had been dead for 8 to 12 hours, according to police experts. The property was in use as a cannabis factory.

Russian tourist murdered in Phuket cannabis factory. Prime suspect flees as chilling details emerge of a 41-year-old Russian man who was found dead. The main suspect, a Tajik tourist, fled Thailand as an investigation ramps up. Police suspect an illicit drug link to what appears to have been a violent murder on the holiday island.

A 41-year-old Russian tourist was found murdered in the Chalong sub-district of Phuket on Wednesday morning.

Significantly, police found his body at a private residence being used as an unlicensed marijuana-growing factory. Similarly, officers revealed that their main suspect, a Tajik national, simultaneously flew out of the country on Tuesday night.

At the same time, forensic officers suggested that the Russian only died within an 8 to 12-hour time window. The victim’s body was discovered by police on Wednesday morning after his girlfriend raised the alarm.

Police in the Chalong sub-district of Phuket are exploring a marijuana drug link to a brutal murder discovered on Wednesday. The victim was a Russian tourist who entered Thailand in January this year.

At the same time, officers are aware that the prime suspect has already left the country. In short, it is understood he flew out from Thailand on Tuesday, March 12th at 9.38 pm.

so if they know exactly what day/time the suspect left, why don't they ask police to catch him up on arrival and send him back? piece of cake!

Maybe he took a 1-hour flight to a regional destination like Phnom Penh. But with the time elapsed between the murder and the body being found, he's probably half-the-world away already.

Of course, Mun Farang means potato here, and refers to white, brought to us as reference to the French years ago.

A sign of the times, or 'progress' as some like to call it. Ten years ago, this scene would have been set on a mango plantation, but nowadays it's on a cannabis farm.

I'm sure there's some evidence, like it was his house where it happened or GPS location from his phone they don't need to have been trailing him 24/7 but if either of these match up and he left the country in the 12 hours or so after then I'm sure that's enough to make him the top suspect before more evidence comes to light

From original article: "Neighbours, who asked for their identities to be withheld out of concern for their health, told Chalong police that many foreigners allegedly visited the house to buy and smoke cannabis."

IMHO, no one should be concerned about their "health" due to illegal activity performed in their neighborhood.

"...asked for their identities to be withheld out of concern for their health".

They weren't "concerned about their health", it was obviously meant as a figure of speech meaning that they were worried about their safety if they were seen as co-operating with the police.

Or anyone could just come here and do their criminal activities.

hmm ... P4P is illegal, so those involved offering and paying for, would be considered criminals

"P4P"?  That's a reference to sex, yes, or am I misinterpreting that?  Paying for sex is not a crime here.

I doubt it Rex,  if he's back in Takjikistan or anywhere near there he's gone for good.

Unless extradition is requested. Thailand has had foreigners extradited back here for murder trials in the past.
