Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will take part online in the third  Summit for Democracy held in South Korea on Wednesday, according to an informed source.

The summit’s theme is ‘Democracy for Future Generations’. The summit’s plenary session will be held virtually on the evening of Wednesday. The Thai prime minister will deliver a three-minute speech at the plenary session along with other leaders from the so-called democratic countries.

The three-day summit began on Monday with a ministerial conference and a roundtable discussion on “Technology and Democracy.”

What is Thailand going to do there?? a seminar about democracy, as Thailand is not a democracy at all>. A big input they will not have and accpting things they won't do as Thailand has its own democracy as Mr Prayuth once said and can not compared with others.. In the past years we know now what democracy he meant

that doesn't apply to Thailand as we all know what the future reserves to Thais, much of the same same with no difference, 2 choices = Elite vs Military coup

Why would Thailand want to get involved in this folly?

Maybe they misheard and thought it was the Summit for Kleptocracy. Strettha would be well suited.

It is important to them to keep up the image as being a democracy .

Title of his lecture: "Democracy: How to get around it".

"Srettha’s speech will focus on the democratization in Thailand. He led an elected government comprised of various political parties after the May election last year. Since then, the country’s international profile has changed for the better as it is no longer associated with the military-led government." (my bold)

Seriously, Srettha is going to push these two well-known falsehoods before the 2024 Summit for Democracy members that includes Finland, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Republic of (South) Korea and Poland?

World rankings from Democracy Index 2023 Report Age of Conflict (index below 6.01 not considered democracies):

  • Full Democracies - Finland 9.3, Ireland 9.19, Germany 8.80, Japan 8.40, S. Korea 8.09
  • Flawed Democracies - Poland 7.18, Thailand 6.35

In fact as a result of the so-called 2023 election of a new Thai government, Thailand's Index fell. It would seem that Thailand's invitation to this Summit was to bait the country's minority-led government into exposing it teetering towards authoritarianism. "Hook, line and sinker" comes to mind.

You have to wonder how smart these guys are, why would they advertise this fact when the peoples elected leaders of choice are in the opposition!!! Maybe the meetings scheduled for April 1st !!
