GammaGlobulin
Dear Modern-day Technophiles and Humanists: Every time I hold a modern-day CPU in my hand, it's like holding the entire weight of Cheops. If you do not understand this, then I feel sorry for you, because, perhaps, you do not comprehend the true MAJESTY of the modern-day CPU. I am talking about MAN-HOURS. Some say that the Great Pyramid of Giza was built by aliens. And some say that the modern-day CPU was built by the same people from Outer Space. Every time I hold a CPU in my hands, I feel just so helpless, not knowing.....what...is.... INSIDE this tiny thing. Also, I feel helpless, not knowing what is inside my own brain. I guess I will never know, unfortunately, as long as I live. Still, we can all marvel. Best regards, Gamma Note: Are you not just so happy to be ALIVE, these days, to witness what we are witnessing? Note2: My question is now..... How many tens of thousands of years would it require for an Egyptian to create just one CPU, as pictured above? Note3: Therefore, I say unto you, the Cheops Pyramid was never such a miracle as the modern-day Intel CPU..... thaibeachlovers
You really are a sad man ( or woman ), IMO. Who really cares about a piece of technology, when the world is turning to <deleted> ? IMO we all should have more important things to wonder about- leave your basement and go out where there is some grass and trees and wonder about the miracle of nature, not some tech that will be obsolete in a year. 1
GammaGlobulin
As we now know, the pyramids were built on ancient Egyptian beer. But, these days, nobody drinking beer would be allowed to work in modern-day FABS..... Times have changed.

About 4,500 years, since that's roughly how long ago the pyramids were built and we have modern CPUs now. 2

Yes. Culture continues to progress. Pyramids were very high-tech, back in the day.... But, now, we must all worry that technological progress might eventually destroy us. The Drake Equation, and all that... (Why are there no aliens, for example? Have they destroyed themselves due to technological advancement?) GammaGlobulin
In my view: It's rather miraculous that.... Almost anyone, today, can hold the equivalent of an Egyptian Pyramid in one's hand.... For about USD300.00. Nuff Said....
beautifulthailand99
My decision not to move to Thailand and live out my remaining years there which is eminent doable and affordable is doubly validated when read posts like this. Stuck inside your condo/house with AC and air purifiers blasting counting patterns on tiles is a thing, but not my thing. Are you on drugs ? On the other hand 8k porn becomes an option there is that. I've been inside the big one and the chamber is so perfectly cut that it would be a problem to replicate even now. IMO there is no way it could have been cut thousands of years ago with the tools they had then. Yes, we are well on the way to developing the weapons that will kill us all. Gaia will rejoice when we are gone. (Why are there no aliens, for example? Have they destroyed themselves My theory on that is that they genetically engineered the ancestor of apes to be human slaves and we killed them all, or they got so scared of the violent humans they made that they left before we could kill them all. Now they are sitting out in space and will kill us all if we look like escaping into the universe.

I have that movie on DVD, and watch it from time to time. It's a great movie considering when it was made, so the special effects are not that good. My only complaint is that the guys hair is always perfect. They must have had a hairdresser on set between takes. Loved the robot. Actually, it's probably the first movie I ever watched, and I must have liked it so much I never forgot it ( like Old Yeller and The Wizard of Oz )

Alchemists also believed that an elixir of life could be derived from it. Or then: 2001: A Space Odyssey's monolith. Or only some music ☺️ Just wondering. I enjoy wondering. Now they are sitting out in space and will kill us all if we look like escaping into the universe. We already have the weapons with the potential to kill us all. Or we can do it in stages, with heat and chemical pollution. As Stalin once said, quantity is its own quality. The perfectly cut chamber is either a matter of having one totally gifted artisan with decades of work, or 50,000 workers to ensure each piece fitted perfectly. My own theory about the absence of aliens is - any alien with common sense would keep well away. A century ago, a machine that could scan one's body from head to toe, and pinpoint every internal defect, would be dismissed as science fiction. CT and PET scanners would be called miracles by anyone in the Middle Ages.

Being unable to speak or read Chinese, the only comments I can offer: It does remind me of the film "Raise The Red Lantern" starring Gong Li. I once went via rail from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. It was like peering into another world. You do appear to have a love-hate relationship with the Chinese. Having been involved with some on a professional level over the years, IMO they are pretty smart people.
