In the early hours of yesterday, an intoxicated Thai man overturned his car on Petchtrakul Road in Pattaya.

The Sawang Boriboon Thammatasan Rescue Unit was promptly dispatched to the location in the Na Kluea subdistrict of the Banglamung district in Chon Buri province, where they found a black Toyota Vios sedan, with Bangkok licence plates, lying on its roof.

The driver, identified as 48 year old Suphot was fortunate to escape the wreckage with minor injuries. Pattaya police, who arrived later for investigation, could clearly see that he was under the influence of alcohol.

The accident also involved a second car that was parked by the roadside. The owner of this vehicle, 34 year old Thanakorn Sunantha, was inside his car eating when the sedan crashed into the rear of his vehicle, causing the sedan to flip upside down.

In the aftermath of the accident, Suphot was escorted to the Pattaya Police Station where he was subjected to a breathalyser test, reported Pattaya News.

Pending the results of this test, he is likely to face charges of drunk driving, among other related offences.

In related news, a female taxi driver admitted to being intoxicated after causing chaos on Khao Talo Road, East Pattaya in the early hours of March 7.

Arriving at the accident scene at the entrance of Soi 10, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province, officers from the Nong Prue Police Station discovered a yellow-and-blue taxi from the Pattaya Taxi Cooperative with a Chon Buri licence plate.

In other news, a drink driving incident last Sunday led to the arrest of an Italian national in Phuket. The man’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was found to be 95mg/dL, which is significantly above the legal limit.

The 50 year old Italian man was apprehended by Patong Police around 4am in the vicinity of Loma Circle at the northern end of Patong Beach. The breathalyser showed his BAC to be nearly double the acceptable limit of 50mg/dL (0.05%), resulting in his immediate arrest and charge for driving while intoxicated.

They managed to squeeze in a bad foreigner at the end of the article though, even if it was in another part of Thailand and completely unrelated to the original incident.

Yes, seen a few like that lately. Since we are all more likely to recall the last thing we read, is this some idea to push the 'foreigner bad' agenda?

Wow. Throw away the breathylisers, substitute the RTP analytic eyeball test.

Just to get things into context, a policeman's first reaction to any incident is usually the result of a 'mark 1 eyeball examination'.

Dear 'confused'. The RTP are reported as making an assumption. The driver could have been under the influence of drugs or having a medical problem or a number of other things.
