Myanmar Junta Bars Men From Working Abroad

Featured Replies

Myanmar's military junta has temporarily halted the issuing of work permits for men seeking employment overseas from May 1. This comes amid forced military recruitment, leading thousands to leave the country.

However, the suspension does not affect those who have already received permission to work abroad. The restriction has been confirmed by Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation (MOEAF), but no specific lift date has been given.

The military regime mentioned enforcing the Conscription Law from Feb. 10, demanding men aged 18 to 35 and women between 18 to 27 to join the military. The junta has even resorted to forcibly taking young men from homes and streets to enforce their law.

This has led many citizens to seek work abroad, mainly in neighboring countries like Thailand and Malaysia.

The ban has posed severe difficulties for young people in Myanmar who have invested significant efforts in preparing for overseas jobs, including learning new languages and other necessary skills.

An immense disappointment is expressed among youths whose work plans have been disrupted. This ban has even driven some to join the People's Defense Force and fight against the military junta, the only remaining option for many.

In my opinion this is the most sensible way forward & replace the current military Junta as they appear to be a major problem for the country as a whole

Desperation by a despot Junta, helped to stay in power by Thailand's Govt allowing shipments of money to be allowed in, and flown out. Aka Money laundering.

Neutral my Ass.

The unfortunate young men will now have to look at either fighting, on one side or the other, or coming to Thailand (and others) illegally.

Then the press will have a field day showing more 'illegal immigrants' being arrested.

Thailand will send the poor guys back to Burma thus showing their support for the illegal military junta.

Fortunately these thieving, serial killing maniacs seem to be losing their toxic grip on the nation. A pox on them and their families. May the youth, the resistance and the good people of Burma prevail against the monstrous generals. Nothing short of execution, or at a minimum, a life of exile, would be fitting for them.

I suspect the porous borders are going to get real busy.

A few more drone attacks like this may bring about the demise of the Junta generals and their genocidal terrorist organisation - the Tatmadaw!  (April 2024)

Brigadier-General Soe Min That, commander of the 44th Division controlling the Pha Song camp, 275th Infantry Battalion, Myawaddy, was killed on the battlefield near the Thai-Myanmar border. Armed ethnic groups have launched an air operation against Myanmar soldiers using drones and dropping bombs near the Thai-Myanmar border checkpoint at the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, opposite Ban Wang Takhian, Tha Sai Luad subdistrict, Mae Sot district, Tak province, causing the deaths of many government troops.

Congratulations to the armed resistance. A job well done. Keep it up. For all humanity.

That really sucks for those affected, stuck in Myanmar and forced to do the dirty deeds of the murderous junta.
