Authorities Arrest Bar Owner for Alleged Minor Trafficking

Police have arrested a karaoke bar owner in Pranburi district for suspected minor trafficking focussed on sex trade. The arrest followed a tip-off from an anti-trafficking group about probable unlawful operations in the bar including the involvement of individuals below 18.

 

An undercover investigation by the Crime Suppression Division revealed the allegations to be true. This led to the arrest of the 46-year-old bar owner, Anong, who ran the establishment, on charges of trafficking minors for sexual exploitation.

 

In a police setup, officers were offered sexual services from two girls, one aged 15, for 2,5000 baht ($68), while older girls wer priced at 2,000baht ($54). On the girls' arrival, the officers identified themselves and nabbed Anong.

 

Following her arrest, the proprietor confessed to running a sex trade involving minors, charging clients between 2,000 to 2,500 baht (US$54 to US$68) per service, with a 500 baht ($14) commission for herself.

 

The victims were later taken in for psychological support, having unknowingly become a part of the sex trade under the guise of making extra money. Anong's case has been handed over to the Crime Suppression Division for further action.

 

In relevant news, local authorities unearthed similar operations in Phuket where a 13-year-old was amongst those being exploited for prostitution. This discovery led to the arrest of the bar owner who admitted to knowingly participating in the illegal trade.

How they punish this degenerate, especially seeing she's a woman, will be observed by the world. Letting her off easy would be showing the rest of these scumbags that you can sell humans and they only give you a small fine. She knows exactly what she was doing, and most likely had help, and if she goes away for a long time it might do something to curtail this evil activity. A woman, or girl, that's been used in any way brings that into her future relationships. Used in this way it's a psychological pain that might never go away and will harm every relationship she will ever have., along with how she thinks of herself.

I suspect it was the other way around ,she was giving the girls B500 and keeping

the rest for herself , Human trafficking lock her up .

It has been going on for so many years and still they haven't been able to stamped it out because to lure and the easy money are

so great and enticing specially for the 'have not' young girls what want to be like everyone else and fit in the circle of her her

have all those new phones and new close,

Unfortunately, it will continue to be so in form or another, less or more, but it can't be wiped all out and the repid expending

of society and not enough attention at home is to blame...

Could it be that the police know about this all over the country and they collect commissions to look the other way?

It's like all those illegal casinos. They couldn't exist if the police would do their job.

I have long advocated a death penalty for sex crimes against children. Whether committing the sex act oneself or supplying the child to others for sexual acts is little different. Similarly it matters not whether the guilty person is male or female.   DEATH SENTENCE WARRANTED!!!!!

Silly statement from someone who has been in Thailand a long time. Bar fines are a way of life in the bar scene and the 500baht fine is normal but normally paid just to take the girl to cover lost income. This 500 has nothing to do with negotiation with the prostitute. The strange part is taking the money from the girls.

Death! And what happens when/if the guilty person is found innocent because the accuser has lied?

First pimping children is despicable and those who do should recieve heavy sentences. My gripe is the over use of the term "Trafficking". Trafficking should mean taking someone of any age under force to another location whilst under lock and key then sold/used. That is being trafficked. Unwilling person.

The problem is not due to the law or the penalties. 
 

it is to do with lack of enforcement and prosecution, and lack of parental or social care looking at the welfare of the young victims.

 

The police will not take action unless financially induced by reasonable salaries, as corruption to allow lawbreaking currently tops those up.

 

Social care depends on taxation and willingness to provide it, not seen as a priority as the victims are the poor and the rich have the money.

You could double their salaries and the corruption is so deep into the system that it would have no affect. They would always want more!

First......read the thread............Following her arrest, the proprietor confessed to running a sex trade involving minors, charging clients between 2,000 to 2,500 baht (US$54 to US$68) per service, with a 500 baht ($14) commission for herself.   Whether the clients are guilty will rather depend if they knew what they were paying for

 

Second......In advocating a death sentence for sexual crimes against children, plus murder, armed robbery and various other crimes, It would always be subject to irrevocable proof, such as CCTV or immediate witnesses
