Side comment:  What is an 81 year old man doing using a motorbike taxi for touring?  30+ people a day killed in accidents, mostly involving motorcycles

Probably the writer of the article thought that the mention of an Israeli would make it a juicier reading owing to

all the commotion and protests around the world having to do with the Israel/Gaza war...

Really? It's not as though the nationality of people in news articles is usually omitted. You probably comment on "typical (add nationality)".

You watch an all points bulletin will be issued,, every cop in Thailand will be looking for this scumbag taxi but the real scumbags like Taksin and his mates all arrive on private jets and walk around free as a bird.

13 May, we get this story.

"Thai Taxi Driver Nabbed for Stealing Passenger’s Cash"

I posted this comment.

"

Time to start a lottery  how long before we get the usual returning of lost tourists wallet, money bag, phone etc... I'm going with 2 days"

I'm even more conviced we'll get a "good" news story soon.

Crikey, the old guy must have really pissed off the taxi rider.

6pm, I'd like to know how many hours the taxi rider spent with the old guy trying to please him.

What was the old guy thinking, unable to communicate but still hiring a motorbike taxi.

I see many Russians doing the same stupid things.

I'd like to know more about the phone, perhaps the old guy just misplaced it.

OMG,  are you suggesting tourists shouldn't take motorbike taxis.... it does seem you are.

Why is he reported as an israeli? What difference does his nationality make?

Doesn't seem that hard to find an explanation for that, namely the police had trouble understanding him because of the foreign language.
then surely it makes sense in this context to explain that he is an Israeli

language barrier,

I reckon the old guy has a brain disorder, dementia or alzheimer's or similar.

He's probably misplaced his phone, forgot where he placed it due to his illness.

A geriatric, in Thailand, doesn't speak a word of English or Thai.

The guy is asking for trouble.

Get A Thai interpreter, CHEAP 💲💲💲

Another bloody cheap Charlie being a nuisance.

I've noticed we have quite a few nuisance foreigners here on this thread looking back at my received comments. 😂

I'd say many are cheap Charlie's to. 😎

Police on the lookout for a moto man wearing a 'keffiyeh' !

That would be typical. Put that rag on, then attack the old, attack women, attack children and then run like sniveling cowards when the men comes.

Waiting for response from Israeli officials blaming Hamas 😂😂😂

Waiting for a response from Hamas taking credit, and then crying that they are persecuted when one of their homicidal babykilling brethren is arrested.

Troll alert. 😴

Just  because I'm not an old fool like some and have a different opinion you call me names, reply with hostility. I wasn't nasty or rude to you.

You have not grown up, this is not the school yard.

Some people are just stuck in their old senile ways, refuse to communicate properly.

He is reported as an Israeli because he is an Israeli - in the same way as the press seem to revel in leting us know that a Brit is the subject of the article - usually when it is a "Brit Behaving Badly".

You don't often see articles about the good work that Brits (and other farang nationalities) do to help the community e.g. cleaning beaches etc, when it is really the Thai Council's responsibility.

But, yes, his nationality should not  matter - just another instance of a rogue taxi/tuk tuk/motor bike taxi rider damaging the image of Thailand.

How come we rarely hear the results of the police investigations of these criminal activities, but  always a photo op for half a dozen BIB when a foreigner is apprehended for a wrongdoing?
