Things don’t work that way.  Sure, the US could send over the 82nd airborne or other troops at a moment’s notice, but that wouldn’t be too effective.  Look at a map.  It’s a huge area. 

No point talking sense. IMO too many people on here grew up with John Wayne winning the war single handedly to believe that the west will fail, never mind the real life examples of failures eg Vietnam and Afghanistan, and other examples of fiascos that sort of fizzled out like Iraq, or the draws like Korea.

Ukraine is conducting a strategic attack on Russian infrastructure, including oil refineries and petroleum storage. Such an attack could result in a sudden collapse of the Russian military, assuming the  damage is being generated faster than it can be repaired.

 

Ukraine doesn't seem to hit the same target more than once. I personally would hit a refinery, and then hit again while it is being repaired.

Do tell. You must be very busy to listen to THOUSANDS of highly skilled  international experts in independent think tanks not controlled by any government. I have probably listened to less than a hundred in the past couple years and those experts don't agree with you.

 

Just because they are from Russia or the Balkans, it doesn't make them correct. For every "expert" you put up I'm sure that there is one with an opposing opinion.

 

Doesn't matter anyway. Wars are won by hard men in the mud, not office workers or "think tank experts", and Ukraine is running out of them. Conscripts do not have their hearts in the conflict, else they'd have volunteered.

For me, it’s not a matter of “supporting “ one side or the other.  It all comes down to try to understand what is happening and why.  What is the historical context? Does this war make any sense?  What happens if it continues?  How and why did it start, and when?  What was the role of the United States in instigating the overthrow of a democratically elected president in Ukraine in 2014? Secret CIA bases in Ukraine? What about the Ukrainian treatment of Russian speaking people in the Donbas over the years? Genocide? US funded biolabs in Ukraine? 
 

It’s all a mess that needs to stop, sooner rather than later. “Supporting “ one side or the other is counterproductive. To think otherwise is to accept the consequences of continuing escalation.  WW III.  Billions of deaths and the end of the world as we know it.  How does that make and sense?

That sort of thing happens in any war by both sides. There have apparently been abuses by Ukrainian soldiers against Russian POWs.

Reasons are simple. Putin is evil, he wants to re establish the old Soviet Union, he wants to conquer Ukraine, he wants to conquer all of Europe, he is afraid of losing the election so he initiates a war… People do believe the most amazing things. It’s a wonder there are still bridges left unsold lol.

If you look at videos about this then it seems the russians do not have the spare parts to repair these refineries.

They need to come from outside and despite what others are saying ,the sanctions do prevend

those parts from going to russia.

So no need to spent more ammo on something that is pretty much inactive.

Russia tried to attack Kharkhiv, the Ukrainian army managed to slow down the Russian advance. Now things are pretty much stalled.

 

The question is if the Ukrainians can counter-attack.
