Also, what do you mean, "Nothing to say who they are"? He names every single person he quotes in the article.

All in all, he quotes from a dozen or more prominent people located inside Russia. 

 

As for for why they hold the opinions they do, I would say their words are self-explanatory.

You said it yourself-served 3 presidents. Hardly going to be going against the required bias IMO.

 

As for the now named ( thank you ) people, seems suspicious that a "loyal ally of Putin" and other top ranked officials would be publishing things not supporting Putin's war, and living to tell the tale.

I'll withhold my agreement till more than that comes to light.

I have said it previously, and I say it again after the latest blasts in tatarstan, this war is creating a terrible environmental catastrophe. Both Russia and Ukraine were never much for environmental responsibility, but the targeting of chemical and petroleum facilities is going to  leave a legacy of environmental tragedy and the birth defects that will accompany it.
