Court Greenlights Complaint Requesting Prime Minister's Dismissal Over Cabinet Selection

On Thursday, the Constitutional Court approved a complaint that seeks to oust Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. The complaint is about his appointment of a former lawyer, who has a criminal history, to his cabinet. The Prime Minister has not yet been asked to step down from his role and will continue his duties until a verdict is delivered.

 

The complaint was filed by a group of 40 senators. They claim that Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin broke constitutional rules when he gave Pichit Chuenban, a minister attached to the Prime Minister's office, his job. The senators said this appointment was not legal because Pichit had been convicted for contempt of court in 2008 after he tried to bribe court officials. They argue this prior conviction makes him unfit for a ministerial role.

 

Pichit decided to resign recently to protect the Prime Minister from this case. However, the court has not accepted the case against Pichit because he has already stepped down.

 

Pichit has long served as an aide for the Shinawatra family. This is the same party where Prime Minister Srettha is a leader. He also represented former Prime Ministers Yingluck and Thaksin Shinawatra in major court cases in the past.

Charter court accepts petition seeking removal of PM Srettha’s status

The Constitutional Court voted 6:3 today to accept for consideration a petition, by a group of 40 senators, challenging the legitimacy of the appointment of Phichit Chuenban as PM’s Office minister, but voted 5:4 to reject the senators’ call to suspend Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin pending the court’s final decision.

 

The prime minister was given 15 days to submit his written rebuttal to the court.

 

The court also voted not to accept the senators’ petition seeking a ruling on the legitimacy of Phichit’s appointment, on the grounds that he resigned from the cabinet on Tuesday.

In the Toxic one's plan,  Srettha is just keeping his seat warm for him.

It's only a matter of time before this evil dictator is back to emptying Thailand's coffers again.

 

The only reason that he allowed Yingluck sit on his throne was because he was on the run.

Yingluck was his proxy, so he could run the country from Dubai.
