A nice candle-lit supper with Nok could be possible for any member getting all the footy questions correct; any week. And an exciting, but relaxing, game of chess after the grub. I'll have a word with her. See if she is game for a game.

From now, to the start of the EPL, I'll put up some weekly footy questions. And anyone getting them right; any week,, well,, brush up on yer chess gambits. But no Googling now. Only if yer give up.

So let's kick off with three easy-peasee, lemon-squeezee ones.

1 - These two teams met each other, home and away, in the top flight. 19 goals in the two games. A 8-4 and a 3-4. Clue;;; both teams playing in the EPL this year. What clubs?

2 - What did Cameron Brannagan (ex-Liverpool) do in the game Gillingham v Oxford United on 20th January 2022. Result 2-7.

a/ Scored 2 own goals for Oxford, and two for Gills
b/ Scored 4 goals from 4 penalties
c/ Hat-trick in first 7 minutes
d/ Scored 6 goals; all in second half.

3- Alex Ferguson went to Man Utd in 1986, and suffered a loss in his first game as boss. What club beat his lads?

a/ Swindon Town
b/ Northampton Town
c/ Carlisle United
d/ Oxford United.

That's it for the opener. Answers, and three more riveting questions next week.

Thanks for playing. Nok!! Stop stroking that bishop.

1. Reading and Pompey.

2. a. A guess.

3.d.

Sounds like Nok's house has no leccy.

Wow!! Close.

Not quite good enough to push your pawn Champs.

Pompey 7 - Reading 4. A record score for the EPL. 10 goals has been hit 5 times. No! Not a quiz question. Could have been though. Gunners, United and Spurs each involved in two matches. And Reading too if the 11 score is counted.

Baggies 5 - United 5

Spurs 6 - Reading 4

Gunners 7 - Toon 3

United 8 - Gunners 2

Spurs 9 - Wigan 1

I know the answer to this Chippy.

I saw him play in London 30+ years ago. The match progamme, highlighted his career. I kept the programme for many years. And what a career. Played lots of times for England.

A gifted player for sure.

Clash of thinking. Peter liked 'craft'. Big Ron liked 'crash'.

TBH, I can't recall him playing for United. Maybe I don't know the answer after all.

I am sure I know this too. He played for Bolton for a while, never played for Utd's 1st team though.

OSA has told you it is Peter ..... 😜

Wow Beardsley...... but according to wikipedia he didn't make a first team appearance for United.

So we need this League Cup appearance confirmed.

I don't doubt it..... The question mark is whether Beardsley was on the pitch.
