There were no conspiracy theories around closing schools, it happened in most countries in the world. The fact that they are now saying it was a mistake to keep them closed for so long says what?

I would agree.

When wokeism declares that a woman can have a penis, and that people can be whatever they say they are just by declaring it, when people have their own "truth", when people vote for a President so clearly suffering from dementia, there is clearly a degree of mental illness in play in the US right now.

History will look back and laugh at the current period.

Turn off social media. Please.

That's the interview where Fauci finally admits that closing schools for a year during Covid was a mistake. It only took Mister I Am The Science 4 years to admit that 'conspiracy theorists' (and Trump) were right.

Fauci did the best he could considering the worst global pandemic we've seen in decades. And considering the massive amounts of misinformation on social media sites and dodgy right wing media outlets.

Trump wasn't right. Completely wrong

As usual no link to the interview or article.

Perhaps to much "Alex Jones" reruns.

Rattlesnake, number one conspiracy theorists on the forum.

Go back to Russia!

Thanks for the compliment, although I can't stand Alex Jones.

According to Fauci, he was right about this:

Ummm...a global pandemic that nobody understood hits the world hard. Hundreds ofthousands are dying and filling up hospitals. Scientists and doctors do the best they can to understand it. Politicians and social media are spewing misinformation. Now armchair quarterbacks with 20.20 hindsight are bashing the professionals.

We live in troubling times. And you are contributing to it.

Trump repeatedly publicly endorsed the Covid vaccine and yet I did not take it. How do you explain that?

Well no, that is the point I am making. Those of us who consistently argued that school closures were doing more harm than good were called crazy conspiracy theorists at the time, but now that it is officially confirmed that we were right, a bit of intellectual honesty would be appreciated (though I will not hold my breath).

So according to your rationale, being a doctor and/or scientist is the prerequesite to make claims on this issue?

I did.  A horrible public leader. Perhaps he got one thing right. But definitely was responsible for thousands of deaths due to his misinformation.

Absolutely. Better than believing in politicians or dodgy social media and news outlets

And the reason why he refused to wear a mask is that it would have spoilt his make up! 😀

Have you read the full quote? 😀

"Shutting down everything immediately — and we didn't shut it down completely — but essentially major social distancing and even schools was the right thing," Fauci said. "How long you kept it was the problem, because there was a disparity throughout the country. If you go back and look at the YouTube, I kept on saying, 'Close the bars, open the schools. Open the schools as quickly and as safely as you possibly can.' But initially to close it down was correct. Keeping it for a year was not a good idea."

This exchange began with your claim that Trump supporters are cultists who will blindly obey anything he says. I presented you with an insurmountable contradiction, which put you in a binary position: acknowledge the opposing party has made a point, or deflect. I expected you to deflect and you did not disappoint.

However, as you are smart, you will undoubtedly take this into account and cease to make this claim going forward.

Trump supporters are cultists. Why else would they deny science and attack a renowned medical professional like Fauci?

I agree. I can provide you with numerous statements by specialists, in the fields of infectious diseases, virology and vaccine development, who have negative views on the Covid response. They have been censored for four years and their views were never taken into account. What is your take on that?
