Re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi?

Hi

 

If you have a non-imm O visa with a 1 year extension based on marriage. Is it possible to get a re-entry permit? And, what's the process like of getting it at Suvarnabhumi airport? Would 3 hours before departure be enough?

Should be more than enough time.  The re-entry permit area in inside the immigration area on departures (far left).  It has recently been revamped with a small waiting area in case there are a few people at the same time.  I was with 3 people last week, 2 of whom needed a REP, took maybe 15 minutes and they were both done.  No preparation is required, they will do the photo and form for you.

Yes, you can. I did it a week or so ago. Very easy and takes 10-15 minutes. Allow 30 minutes in case it is busy and you'll be fine. A family of four got there just before me but I was still out in 10 minutes.

Go through immigration Zone 2. After security, you come down the escalator and turn right, the desk is at the far end (before immigration), you can't miss it. If you  arrive with the form filled out and photos it is 1,000 for a single entry. But pay an extra 200 baht and they fill out the form and take the photos for you. Just give them your passport, write down your address and they do the rest - couldn't be easier.

They hand your passport and completed form back and tell you to walk to a window and place it in a tray. 10 minutes or so later they'll call your name out to go and get it, then you go to immigration counters as normal.

You can also get multi-entry reentry permits there but I forgot the price. I think 3,900 if you do all the form filling and photos and the same extra 200 baht if you want them to do it.

200b is optional service at both Bangkok airports.

I always do my own TM8 with photos etc. 

My many multi reentry cost 3800.

You can pay 1200 baht for a single and 4000baht for a multiple re-entry and not need any copies, photo, or form. the 200 baht is a "special processing fee" and you skate thru fast by doing it

So this is always open? I will exit Thailand at Suvanarbhuni next week and i need a multi re-entry permit as I just enter with brand new Non-B (IB actually) single.

My flight (to Hanoi) is at 07h45am, so little bit early. I guess boarding time will be 07h00am, so I be at the re-entry counter at 06h30am at last?

Or to be on the save side, should i go to CW to get one?

  It's always open.  Why?  Because it's manned by Immigration Officers who have to be there 24/7 to process international departures.

with all respect isnt it illegal to take photos in the airport at some locations?

i asked because last sunday i was at the airport (suvana) and i wanted to take my brother's photo at passport control and the security seriously warned me that i cannot take photo. i dont mean the photo of the airport or some areas but the areas like you took in your 1st photo which shows the immigration. 

i know its public area and so on but.. just wanted to mention what happened to me.

That first photo has been floating around for years.  But you're right, I got shouted at taking a picture of the vast crowds at arrival immigration some time last year.

Yep, and I got shouted at for doing the same with horrendous crowds at Heathrow immigration a couple of years ago.

Definitely at BKK there are signs around immigration and security not to take photos.

I always get a multi re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi. Print, complete the form and add the picture in advance. Never waited more than 5 minutes to get processed at the airport. Very easy and nice staff.

You can do both.

Some folk with fast track option go through another Zone and walk back airside to Zone 2 for reentry permit.

Most attend Zone 2 and obtain permit prior to passport control.

 

For others note reentry permit desk at DMK is after passport control

Today,  10 am, about 30 passegers at the reentry- area at Suvarnabhumi.

Some of them seemed to come in small groups,  like a family of 3.

1 IO working. 

It certainly didn't look like he was handling 1 client per minute,  much slower.

Re-entry queue seemed to move slower than the line of people getting their exit stamps

You google "TM8 download" 

You can do download on any phone. 

Always print any double sided for as back to back one page.

Quick update. When I was there on a weekday at 8 PM there was about 20 people in line and it took almost an hour. So don't take for granted it'll be quick.

Another update: If you ever try the appointment way at CW, when it's time, tell them (nicely)you are waiting. They usually totally ignore the appointment queue!
