Authorities discovered a decomposed body in a Chachoengsao province garbage dump, sparking an urgent investigation to establish if it is that of Yan Ruimin, a missing Chinese student earlier kidnapped for a hefty ransom.

Ruimin, known as a TikTok personality, vanished under mysterious circumstances, with her anxious family revealing kidnappers had demanded one million yuan (approximately 5 million baht) In Bangkok's Bang Rak district.

The distressing find came after police tracked evidence to a desolate area near Wat Pha Tha In road. Witnesses report that around midday, a suspicious black bag, secured with tiles and obscured by foliage, was unearthed 50 metres from a nearby road.

This location correlates with surveillance footage capturing suspect activities around the early hours of July 3, where an individual was observed making multiple trips to the vehicle parked opposite the garbage, potentially depositing the body.

The woman's body was notably intact, displaying surgical alterations including silicone implants and jaw modifications, though immediate identification was hindered by the advanced state of decomposition. Authorities now await autopsy results, set to include a DNA comparison with Ruimin's family, with findings expected within a couple of days.

This incident underscores ongoing efforts to tighten security around foreign nationals engaging in illicit activities within Thailand, ensuring comprehensive tracking and coordination with international law enforcement agencies to clamp down on cross-border criminal actions.

Chinese TikTok Star's Body Found in Chachoengsao After Going Missing

The Thai news has recently updated details regarding the case of Yan Ruimin, a 38-year-old Chinese student and popular TikTok personality. Yan went missing on July 2nd and a ransom demand of 1 million yuan (around 5 million baht) was made. A body thought to be Yan's was discovered on July 13th at 10:30 AM in a grassy spot in Chachoengsao, Thailand.

The Thai police traced Yan's phone to Chachoengsao and examined security footage from July 1-3, which showed Yan's apparent friend, Qingyan Ma, renting a car and driving her to the area. They found Yan's burned suitcase there as well. Ma was then seen leaving his Bangkok apartment in the Srinakarin region and flying out to Hong Kong on the same day.

Investigators found that Yan's WeChat Pay account was active in Macau from July 4-6 and they suspect Ma has a connection to her disappearance.

Yan's body was found buried 20 centimeters under waste tiles in Mueang Chachoengsao, roughly 1 km from where her suitcase was discovered. Preliminary autopsy findings revealed that the body had been underground for over ten days and had significantly decomposed due to stagnant water in the ground.

Bloodstains were found in Ma's Bangkok apartment and in the rental car. Investigators are conducting DNA tests on the blood, comparing them to Yan's father's DNA. Yan's family, who were ignorant about Yan's association with Ma, were informed of the situation by Yan's brother-in-law who had received the ransom demand.

Ma, the main suspect, is now believed to be in Macau. Once Yan's identity is confirmed, police plan to issue an international warrant for Ma's arrest. Together with international agencies, they intend to apprehend him and ensure justice.

As of now, Thai police have not publicly revealed the motive behind Yan's murder, as reported by TPN.

Mat Stained with Blood Examined in Missing Chinese Woman's Case

Thai Police have sent a blood-stained car floor mat for DNA testing as they continue their search for a missing Chinese woman. The mat was found in the boot of a rental car and is thought to be a vital element in the case of a woman's body dumped in a forest in Chachoengsao Province.

Investigators found the blood-stained mat during a forensic examination and hope the DNA results, due by Friday, could link it to the missing woman. They have also collected more evidence from a Bangkok hotel room, near Sri Nakarin intersection, where the male suspect, also Chinese, is believed to have stayed after the crime.

Forensic teams found blood traces in the hotel room's bathroom and sink. The blood stains were similar to those found in the rental car's trunk, providing a potential link between the two crime scenes.

Determining the cause of death in this case is proving difficult due to the body's advanced decomposition. The best guess at this stage is the victim may have been strangled, but this is yet to be confirmed. A positive DNA match from the blood stains would strongly suggest a violent death occurred.

Deputy Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Pol Maj Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat, said the evidence demonstrates a clear relationship between the victim and the male suspect. They are believed to have been together willingly. Police are working on two possible motives, a love quarrel or robbery.

As investigations continue, the police are set to issue an arrest warrant for the suspect who fled Thailand on July 3. His extradition will also be sought.

The body was found on July 13 in a forest near a village in Mueang district, Chachoengsao province. The police believe it might be the missing woman, Ms. Yuan, as there is evidence of cosmetic surgery which matches her medical records.

Chinese influencer murder suspect arrested in Macau

A suspect linked to the alleged murder of Chinese influencer Yan Ruimin has been arrested in Macau, ensnared by a pawnshop scam.

Macau police announced the capture of the 34 year old suspect on Monday, July 15, identified only by his surname Ma, who had allegedly tried to defraud a pawnshop with a counterfeit luxury watch. During his detention, local police discovered that Ma, an unemployed Chinese national, was a prime murder suspect sought by mainland police.

Just two days earlier, the gruesome discovery of badly decomposed human remains was made at a deserted site in Chachoengsao, roughly 50 kilometres east of Bangkok. The remains are believed to be those of Yan Ruimin, a popular influencer on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, who vanished nearly two weeks prior. Yan, who boasted around 15,300 followers, had documented her travels across Thailand and Singapore, with her last post in May from Macau.

Yan last contacted a friend on June 30 while travelling alone. She revealed plans to visit Phuket on July 2 but never arrived. Her friend, alarmed by her sudden silence, filed a police report on July 12 after Yan’s family received a ransom demand of 5 million baht and a warning against involving the police or embassy.

Despite the ransom demand, Thailand’s Metropolitan Police Bureau ruled out the involvement of a transnational crime syndicate, suggesting instead that her disappearance was a personal matter. CCTV footage showed Yan entering a white Honda driven by a man on July 1 in Bangkok. The duo was later seen holding hands and eating durian at Khlong Toei market before leaving for Chon Buri.

Yan’s phone signal was detected near a public park in Chachoengsao on July 3 but it went silent shortly thereafter. A police search team uncovered decomposed human remains in the province on July 13.

Investigations revealed that the car had been rented in Bangkok by Ma Qingyan, who then returned it before flying to Hong Kong from Suvarnabhumi Airport on July 3. He was apprehended in Macau a week later, caught pawning a counterfeit watch, and was later arrested on July 12 while attempting to flee to Hong Kong.

Macau police handed Ma over to mainland police on Monday, July 15. Meanwhile, forensic scientists are working to identify the remains, with DNA results expected on Friday, July 19.

Supichai Limsiwawong, commander of the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine explained that as the remains were badly decomposed, DNA samples had to be extracted from the bones, reported The Nation.

I bet he thought he'd got away with it.
