Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has directed the Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo) to prioritize seizing assets from major drug networks to disrupt the narcotics trade. Last year, Amlo seized 523 million baht in assets related to drug cases, with the largest worth at least 100 million baht. Speaking at a meeting of Amlo executives Mr. Srettha emphasized that Amlo must proactively root out traffickers by targeting their assets.

 

Six academics from three universities have been dismissed, and eight others are under investigation for research paper fraud, according to the Ministry of Higher Education,. Three lecturers from Khon Kaen University were terminated and will face criminal charges, while two from Chiang Mai University and one from Chulab-horn Royal Academy were also dismissed. A committee is investigating allegations involving 109 academics from 33 universities, following a report last August that a lecturer bought a paper for 30,000 baht.


A Chinese man wanted for the murder of Chinese TikTok influencer Yan Ruimin, whose body was found in Chachoengsao on Saturday, has been arrested in Hong Kong,  after Thai authorities sought the assistance of interpol.  Mr. Ma Quinyan, was seen on CCTV  with the 38 year old tik tokker  Yan in Bangkok on July 1 and was later spotted in Chachoengsao on July 3rd. The body was discovered there 11 days later.

South Korea's military said on Friday it had conducted a loudspeaker broadcast campaign directed at North Korea overnight in response to the launch of balloons by Pyongyang carrying trash aimed at the South.


Meanwhile the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un received Russia’s vice minister of defence Alek-sey Krivo-ruchko on a visit to discuss the importance of the two countries' militaries to unite more firmly.
Seoul and Washington, have accused The two countries of conducting trade in arms.
