Drunk Driver Crashes into 3 Vehicles, Car Overturns and Catches Fire in Nakhon Si Thammarat
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. An incident occurred early morning, on September 8, in Nakhon Si Thammarat when a man, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his car and crashed into three vehicles before overturning multiple times. The accident caused the car to catch fire, leaving it completely destroyed. Remarkably, the driver survived, though he now faces serious charges. The incident took place near the Clock Tower, adjacent to the provincial hall in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Rescue teams and fire department officials were dispatched to the scene immediately. The driver, a man in his 30s, was found in a state suggesting intoxication and was pulled from the flaming wreckage by emergency personnel. He was rushed to Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital for treatment. Police Captain Kittichai Krainara of the Nakhon Si Thammarat City Police Department, who was on the scene, stated that after crashing into two parked cars — a sedan and a pickup truck — the man’s vehicle struck the median, overturning several times before it burst into flames. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire, but the car was entirely consumed by the blaze. The driver was subjected to a blood alcohol test, which will form part of the ongoing investigation. The authorities have charged the driver with driving under the influence, and the owners of the damaged vehicles have been urged to file additional complaints. Police are also investigating damages to public property and will pursue both criminal and civil actions against the driver under Thailand’s traffic laws. -- 2024-09-09 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe -

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
I'd say that is the relevant bit. Tanks IMO are as relevant now as the battleship was in 1941, just before technology rendered them useless. I'm guessing, but cheap, mass produced autonomous fighting machines may be the way of the future. A while ago someone mentioned a robot dog, and I suspect something like that. -

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
I'll be interested to know if immigration will want to see the reason (medical/study/work etc.) each time you re-enter using this DTV. I know you have to show a valid reason for granting it on initial application but will they start quizzing you in a couple of years time to see if you still have for example ongoing medcal appointments? Also will it count as a 'Long Term Visa' to satisfy a bank to open an account? Andrew. -

New travel rules: Thailand’s ETA to shake up visa-free visitors
Thanks for the advice, but I asked how to document staying at a private residence and not how to game the system. Hopefully, this will be cleared up before the rules go into effect. This year we will be in Thailand in November and I will inquire about it. -
