It's interesting, Kursk was initally a PR triumph where Ukraine siezed back the initaitive with the first invasion of Russian soil since WW2. Since then as our friend problemfarang has said they have taken heavy losses and are not encountering many troops moved from the front. Couple that with Ukrainians are the good guys then there is an overhead in behaving responsibly as the occupier and they are reportedly the best troops as well - fighting what appear to be ghosts. Zelenskiy has said repeatedly he wants to end this war in the autumn and I think it was to strengthen his hand when trading land for peace. Maybe they thought Russians forces would set up their pitiless artillery and glide bomb assaults on their own villages and divert forces from the Donbas.But it hasn't happened. Meanwhile as I have pointed out in the CNN,Economist and Julian Roepcke reports posted there is mass desertion , lack of men and ammo and a seemingly unstoppable Russian advance in the Donbas. It's starting to appear the cunning plan was far from cunning and time is running out for Ukraine. -

As long as "none of the above" is available for every office, and if those reach a certain threshold, the listed candidates are barred, and a new election for that office(s) is held. I wish that were possible for president this November. -

I had neither a degree, a TEFL or a teaching job in LOS. I chose to stay on a non O instead and not have a job at all. I actually taught a lot as a qualified instructor, but that obviously didn't require a degree and only in NZ. -

Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
Two scenarios here. If Thailand, per DTA, has primary taxation rights on income, like private pensions -- they keep all the taxation, as if US taxation, and its credit, didn't exist. They don't lose any taxation collection due to a US tax credit, as no such credit needs to be absorbed. Only the US has to deal with absorbing a Thai taxation credit, due to having only secondary taxation rights. Second scenario, much rarer is: Rental income on property in US. US has primary taxation rights on this income, thus gets to keep all taxation, without any regard to a credit. DTA, however, gives Thailand secondary taxation rights on this rental income -- but Thailand has to absorb a credit for the taxes paid to the US. Thus, credit could completely wipe out any Thai taxation - if US taxation were higher than Thai taxation. But, if Thai taxation higher, they get to keep what's left after the credit. -

RFK-Jr proposed the fix for this, and eVerify, which is to allow those who cannot get a DL/ID from their state - for whatever reason - to get a Passport-Card at their local post-office without cost. Not having a form of photo-ID has many downsides, so this improves the lives of those who do not have one, beyond ability to prove who they are when voting or applying for a job. Whether one believes that vote-fraud is a real-issue or not, this would remove all doubt, so we don't have ~1/2 the country not trusting our elections. What is the downside? Of course, that fix is not in this legislation, because it is being "used as an issue" - by both "sides" - neither actually wanting to solve the problem. Instead, they use this as a circus-event, to distract from the many "bi-partisan" positions they hold, which are in opposition to the views of the majority of the electorate. -
