Please update. I don't think women and children are generally terrorists. Hamas is hard line Islamic, women are subjugated to household roles from what I've read.

Sure. According to Hamas. The same ones who inbed themselves among women and children. Would you like some further updates?

Only if you first provide a link to where I claimed that women and children are acting as terrorists. Aside of course for some late teen children who are terrorists.

You said Hamas doesn't distinguish between civilians and their own terrorists in body counts. Yet the article states the attack on the southern city of Khan Younis, resulted in at least 16 deaths, most of them women and children.

So are you saying these women and children were terrorists?

Yes the article states that with the source being Hamas. Which you obviously believe and I don’t. I don’t believe the terrorists.  The fact is also that Hamas does not seperate women and children deaths from their own terrorist deaths The numbers they give includes both civilians and terrorists. Did you not know that basic fact?

Can I suggest you read the full article, as I did, it has far more to say than the 3 paragraphs that I could post to comply with Forum rules.

The article is not the letter.  The letter  is a relatively mild statement of position and reflects sentiments shared by many Israelis.

The Israeli military continued to conduct dozens of airstrikes in the Gaza Strip over the Jewish weekend from Friday evening to Saturday evening. The air force carried out around 150 attacks on "terrorists and terror infrastructure" over the period, the military said on Saturday.

Over the past seven days, 300 targets have been attacked in the fight against the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement, and since the resumption of hostilities on March 18, more than 1,400 targets have been hit from the air, the military said further. The Israeli military typically does not provide information on the number of civilian casualties resulting from its operations.

Rather than take the advice of experts that said he could fool Hamas with fake promises, the PM said it as it should be.

'PM insists fighting won’t end until terror group destroyed, derides ‘experts’ who say he could fool Hamas with fake promise to end war, get captives back, and then resume fighting

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Saturday night that he would not end the war with Hamas in Gaza until the terror group is removed from power, calling its current demands for a hostage release deal “capitulation conditions.”

Speaking in a prerecorded video address that his office described the day before as a “special statement on a diplomatic matter,” Netanyahu argued that Hamas would rehabilitate its military capabilities if the conflict were ended.'

New Israel-Gaza ceasefire plan proposed, Hamas source tells BBC

A senior Palestinian official familiar with Israel-Hamas ceasefire negotiations has told the BBC that Qatari and Egyptian mediators have proposed a new formula to end the war in Gaza.

According to the official, it envisages a truce lasting between five and seven years, the release of all Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, a formal end to the war, and a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

A senior Hamas delegation was due to arrive in Cairo for consultations.

They wouldn't of course report on what a senior Qatar official deleted from his twitter account.

Egypt and Qatar, acting as mediators in the negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and a deal on hostages, have made a new proposal to the parties. This proposal includes, among other things, a long-term ceasefire, according to the BBC.

Representatives from Cairo and Doha proposed to Israel and Hamas a ceasefire agreement lasting 5 to 7 years, with the official end of the war, complete withdrawal of Israeli forces (IDF) from the Gaza Strip, and the release of "all Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails."

This proposal was shared with a British publication by a senior Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations.

Abbas Condemns Hamas in Blistering Speech, Demands Hostage Release and Gaza Control

In a rare and explosive outburst, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas harshly condemned Hamas, calling its members "sons of dogs" and demanding they release all hostages, disarm, and relinquish control of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority. The remarks came during a heated address to the Palestinian Central Council in Ramallah, marking Abbas’s strongest public denunciation of Hamas since the start of the Gaza war 18 months ago.

That's good news, the people have to be free of Hamas.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has said that it is unable to distribute essential food supplies in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli blockade on humanitarian aid to Gaza.

"Humanitarian aid and supplies have not entered the Gaza Strip for over 50 days now when the Israeli authorities imposed a siege," the agency said in a statement released on Thursday.

"As a result, critical humanitarian supplies, including food, fuel medical aid and vaccines for children, are rapidly depleting.''

   Have I missed something ?

What have Hamas done to suddenly become so unpopular ?

A few weeks ago they were a heroic resistance group bravely fighting occupational forces .

Now everyone seems to be throwing them under a bus and deserting them .

   What happened ?

Did Hamas accept Israel's right to exist or something ?

Could it be after 77 years a Palestinian leader in, shall we say, authority, has finally realized Israel cannot be destroyed through conventional warfare or terrorist attacks?  It's been a very long learning curve for both the Palestinian leadership and the populace, but maybe both are realizing  its best to end armed resistance and get on with their lives.

The World Food Programme said on Friday it had delivered its last remaining supplies to kitchens providing hot meals in Gaza and that the facilities were expected to run out of food in the coming days.

"The UN World Food Programme just announced that its food stocks in Gaza have run out because of the Israeli Government's blockade — food cannot be used as a political tool," Carney, Canadian Prime Minister, said on X.

The UN agency said no humanitarian or commercial supplies had entered Gaza for more than seven weeks because all main border crossing points were closed, the longest closure the Gaza Strip had ever faced.
