Despite the outcry, there has been no official response on the matter or any clarification regarding the data management and protection strategies in the Tang Rat app. The situation has ignited wider discussions about transparency and responsibility of digital services in handling user data.

To be expected really. The government does not have a great reputation for data security - especially with phone apps.

The woman divulged her ordeal online, sharing that after signing up to receive the 10,000 baht digital wallet, she was alerted to an unpaid traffic fine. She posted a screenshot of the notification and condemned the app's handling of her information. She disclosed that her father intended to settle the fine based on the app alert.

Big brother found you out... pay-up.

And some Thais have a reputation for not paying fines.

Why is this a data security issue? It seems prudent to remind someone that they OWE the government money while they are collecting free money from the government.

A woman from Thailand signed up for a 10,000 baht digital wallet on the Tang Rat app, instead she was notified of an unpaid traffic fine, stirring concerns about data privacy.

they are worried that it 'starts' with tickets, but it can lead to abuse by the gvt who now has all their personal data on file. she would have to pay next time she registers her car for the annual windshield ticket anyway but now that her data is in the cloud, well...

I thought data collection was their side benefit from all this nonsense, current bunch probably don't like the "ripe for the picking" grey economy running underneath everything here.

Funny that for a traffic violation issued by a policeman, you get a ticket. Speed cameras send the photo and fine to your house. How many ways are there to ignore a violation?

If they could deduct the fine from the 10,000 Baht app it would make a lot of sense.
